BAS: Meeting minutes of group 3

Group 3 team meeting:

The meeting was hosted at 9:00 P.M by the group leader Ho Minh Khoi and vice-leader Dam The
Vinh to review and discuss about the chosen topic, E-business.

Changing the Outline: The note that Ms. Anna Loseva left on google docs was brought up by
Minh Phuong in the meeting. She suggested that instead of writing a general benefits and
drawbacks of E-business, the group should focus on how positive or negative does it effecting
the society as whole, which including businesses and organization. The topic that the group has
chosen mainly focus on how “E-business could help both buyers and sellers and how it will
become the main tool for transaction in the long-term”, she mentioned that the reason why Ms.
Anna Loseva noted a certain part was to help the group to go on a correct direction,
furthermore, the benefits and drawbacks are vague and lack of relevant. In addition, Phuong
suggestion was approved and the group changed the benefits and drawbacks, along with the
questions.

Discuss about the question: Viet Ha and Thao Nhi has pointed out a question in the outline
which are repeated and have no contribution to the essay in the future. The question was “Who
benefits from E-business”, they said that in the research focusing part and relevant critical
thinking questions, the part “Who?” have 2 repeated question and they are not relevant to each
other. Instead of that repeated question, it should be more specific and related to the thesis
statement, they have recommended to change the question in section “Who?” of Research
focusing question to “Who have the most effect on E-business?”. The idea was supported by
The Vinh, which he commented that it is suitable for future research. More outline questions
are going to be fixed in the next meeting.

Answer the questions: The Vinh said that in order to find more relevant sources for this project,
we first need to consider to answer important question in the outline. He pointed out that the
lead to this is to answer “Why did many companies choose E-business?” because from that we
can understand who are the ones that drive this decision, why should business changed and
how it is impacting the society, then we can easily find the positive and negative aspect that E-
business caused. That being answered, we can find the error and fix what Ms. Anna Loseva have
pointed out in our outline. Vinh reported that he will find more relevant answer to build up the
foundation and the group can lean onto that and build the structure of the essay.
Relevant critical thinking section: After seeing other groups’ outline document, the group has
decided whether or not they should add more questions to the relevant critical thinking section.
There are two to three questions in the outline of other groups’ work, however there are only
one for each section in group 3. The debate started between Minh Phuong and Thao Nhi, Minh
Phuong suggested that the group should include more questions because they will help the
group to develop more ideas in the essay. However, Thao Nhi said that, if the group add more
questions, it will result many irrelevant issues. Minh Khoi then added to the conversation that
he agreed with Nhi, due to the limitation of words in an essay and the CRAAP test, there should
be no extra questions, however, if the questions is relevant and support the thesis statement
then it can be added to the outline questions. The goal is to be as much precise as possible. In
the next meeting, we will see if there are some extra questions that is approved by the group.

Dividing jobs: Minh Khoi stated that we need to focus on what each team members are capable
of, what are their strengths and weaknesses. In order to function well as a group, he need to
know what each individual can contribute to the team. Moreover, he mentioned the schedule
which the group has to follow, in each session of the meeting we don’t need to finish the work
all the time, however, we should follow the schedule to avoid any delay.
