Long vowel is a vowel sound that is
pronounces the same way as the name
of the letter itself.
Another thing is that we do not produce
the e sound in the end of these words.
We pronounce these words with silent
letter at the end.

And we read u as yu like cute
Other examples are gate, pure, ride, bite,
hide etc.
