How did they know about Afrika Tikkun and Join Alumni Network?
Living in Alex I was fortunate to hear about alumni programme by word of mouth.
These Opportunities that are available at Phuthaditjaba Community Centre in Alexandra township.

That’s when I decided to go gather more information about the opportunities that I heard the
candidates talk about. That when I was introduced to GSI and ODDESY,I was interested mostly
grateful for the opportunity they’ve offered me
I did complete all the assessment they’ve offered that’s how I joined the Alumni Network.

Tell us about your background and where you come from and how did you get involved with
Afrika Tikkun?
After finishing my matric, went to attend a 3months Work Readiness course in Cosmo City, after I
work at virgin active as a cleaner at the end of my contract, I got a job as a merchandiser in 4
different retail stores.

2021 I joined the Alumni Network, I completed all the programs that were exposed to me.now I’m
currently under YES Program, hosted at Ransburg A.T.S as a Junior Intern Facilities facilitator.

When and why did you join the Alumni Network?
I joined the Network in March 2021.
I joined the Network because I wanted to grow within the Alumni Network and I saw that Alumni
Network will be a good platform to start with my career choice.

What is your success story since you joined Afrika Tikkun and the Alumni Network?
My success story will be all the risks, failure, doubts, criticism, late night’s persistence and the hard
work I’ve been through since day 1 I’ve joined the Alumni Network.
Volunteering to help Mamzo(Xoli) with cleaning and distribution of break fast
To all the candidates who are attending. And trust in me when saying I don’t have any source of
qualification in both position that I’ve been given. But my work/duties which is expected from me,
was done and every day there was improvement and adopted new ideas that assisted me and my
team to excel at our work each and every day.

What would be your advice to Alumni Network management and leadership in order to

 improve the program?
Dream big, stay positive, work hard and enjoy the journey.
Mostly important always lead by Our values. And making sure that our Alumni member’s voices
are heard at all times and feedback must be given back to them at all times.

All Managing and leadership team members need to work more on communication skills e.g.
feedback and follow ups. Not forgetting working as a team gives back good and excelling results.
We can over power any source of distractions that can affect our work and our goals in the Alumni
Network.

What would be your commentary to the entire Alumni Network

Let keep raising that bar and enjoy the outcomes.
And big thank you to all the people who believed and help me walk through the journey of my
success and a better future, that will be:

*Max, Is the main person who enabled me to build strong self-confidence.

*Mr. Anthony for providing YES program and last chance to prove myself that I really I need to
work .because I tended to be a problem candidate and skip work almost 2 days a week after been
given a chance to be hosted as a cleaner in ATS Head office.
*Mamzo (Xoli) for believing in me always.
*Lucky for putting pressure on me.
*Mr. Warren For facilitating at the leadership camp. His words and his profile changed my entire
attitude and only positive thoughts were running through my mind since we came back from the
leadership camp.

I deserve to win because I’ve lived by A.T.S values since the first day I stepped into the Alumni
Network, and trust in me when saying I am an all-rounder.
I made a choice to start from the bottom and not rush into bigger positions when I was given a
chance to research for a host side. Instate I decided to stay help Mamzo with cleaning and
distribution of food to the candidate. now I got a permanent job in a big respective company
(AFRIKA TIKKUN SERVICES) the company that I was hoping and wishing to grow in since I
heard about the opportunities it provides for us youth and how it played a big role to in changing
the life’s of those who are affected by poverty, And supporting YUM and YUW and providing
work experience and empowering youth to youth.
