which you use with your hands, and
which are usually not powered.

HAND TOOLS
Hand tools are objects which are
operated by hand to carry out task
with ease making work efficient
and safe. These tools do not rely
on electricity and fuel for it to
function. Below are some
examples of tools used in
irrigation:

-A tool commonly used by


rice farmers in
constructing earthen
canals.
SHOVEL

-Is used in removing trash,


digging loose soil, moving
soil from one place to
another and for mixing
soil media.
DIGGING BAR

-Used in digging irrigation


structures such as canals,
water reservoirs etc.
HACK SAW
- Used for cutting plastic
and metal pipes and bars.
PIPE CUTTER

- As the name implies it is


used to cut pipes. Pipe
