Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the identity of a substance according to its atomic
number.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to:

Demonstrate the mathematical computation on getting the specific value of each subatomic particle based on the
given element.

MELC : Determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in a particular atom (S8MT-IIIa-b-10).

J. Assessment (Evaluate):
Learners are tasked to complete the table by missing value of given element and
after completing the table, learners should defend their answer of why they’ve
come-up with that answer.

1. Using the concept that was gathered on
the lesson learners are tasked to create a
poem that contains the details about atom,
subatomic particle and there
representation to a certain element.

F. Motivation (Engage):
Class will be group into 2 each group will represent a certain element and they will
portray an atomic model this includes subatomic particles, and they will just follow
series of instructions.
I.
1. Learners orbiting the nucleus should remove 1 person and transferred to
another group.
2. Receiving group make a record of the numbers received, same with the group
that removes 1 person.
II.
1. Learners needs to change the element they will be portraying.
2. Repeat I. 1 and 2 steps.

Guide Question:
1. What your observations on the activity.
2. What subatomic particle was observed that changed its numbers?
3. As an atom lose or gains an electron, will it affect the other subatomic particles?
Why?

G. Discussion (Explore):
the specific value of each
subatomic particle based
on the given element.

c. shows appreciation by
presenting the concept of
Anions and Cations
creations in a creative
way

Guide Question:
1. When do we call ion to be anion? How
about cation?
2. Why does anion has negative sign if it
gains electrons? And positive sign for
cations if it loses electron?

H. Developing Mastery (Explain):

Defend the rule using the image that was
presented below the rule.
I. Generalization (Elaborate):
