Guide – Checklist & Procedures for MS Flight Simulator by JayDee v1.29.2

Making these checklists has become very time consuming for me. So if you really

II. NOTES
This checklist is designed for a efficient operation flow for one pilot, but I
tried to keep it as close as possible to the real procedures. The
procedures are intentionally simplified in some regards, to make this
guide accessible for beginners

FLYING WITH INGAME ATC


- if you want to use the ingame atc, you have to enter/load the exact
same flightplan into the world map, before you load the flight
- the world map flight plan seems to ne not synchronized with the FMS

- press the LSK for the Departure Airport
INITIAL COCKPIT PREPARATION
- press SID and select Takeoff Runway & SID
EFB OPTIONS CHECK - press *INSERT
Ground Services AS REQ / DES - press the LSK for the Destination Airport
Settings AS REQ / DES - press STAR and select Approach & STAR
Throttle Calibration CHECK - press *INSERT
- enter Enroute Waypoints (if not using SimBrief)
SAFETY CHECK - scroll through Flightplan and delete all Discontinuities
WX Radar OFF - press CLR and click the LSK of the Discontinuity
Parking Brake SET
Fuel Levers OFF EFB W&B AND TAKEOFF PERFORMANCE
Throttle Levers IDLE Mass And Balance Page SET
Flap Lever IN AGREEMENT - either enter SimBrief Weight Data or AS DES

External Power AS REQ / ON - enter BLOCK (Fuel) & ZFW according to EFB Weights
Nav & Logo Lights ON / 1 - enter CG (Center of Gravity) according to EFB Weights
APU Fire Test PERFORM
Engine Fire Tests PERFORM TO/APPR Page
Fuel Pumps all ON - enter V1 and VR according to EFB Calculation
APU START - set V2 via FCP Speed Control Selector
- APU Master → ON - if FCU Panel is not ready yet - verify ART, Pitch Trim &

- Knobs are in the Sidepanels & Pedestal Altimeter ALL SET TO LOCAL
Clock SET/CHECK
EGPWS Button PUSH TO TEST
MCDU & EFB SETUP
- verify „GPWS“ = ON after a few seconds
MCDU SIMBRIEF IMPORT (optional) Brakes / Anti-Skid NORM/ON

- verify „GPS PRIMARY“ & „NAV ACCUR UPGRADED“ PEDESTAL
- enter CRZ FL (Cruise Flight Level) Speed Brakes RETRACTED & DISARMED
- enter CI (Cost Index) - 15 if unsure Flap Lever IN AGREEMENT
- enter FLT ID (Flight Number) Parking Brake SET
Takeoff Warning Test PERFORM
ATC CLEARANCE (IFR CLEARANCE) AS REQ/DES - move Throttle No.1 fully forward
- verify audible Warning Tone & Master Warning Light = ON
OVERHEAD PANEL (after ALIGN IRS!) - move Throttle No.1 to IDLE
ATS Levers both ON - repeat for Throttle No.2
Pitch Trim Levers both ON Transponder SQUAWK SET & STBY
Yaw Damper Levers both ON RUD Trim ZERO
WX Radar TEST
- WX Radar → ON (1 or 2)
- verify Test Screen on ND
WX Radar OFF

BEFORE STARTING ENGINES TAXI


Ground Power, Chocks etc. (EFB) REMOVED → release PARKING BRAKE
Doors (EFB) CLOSE → slowly advance THRUST LEVER (max. 40 % N1)
No White Lights (OHP) VERIFY/CHECK → check the BRAKES during Taxi
ATS, Pitch Trim & Yaw Damper (OHP verify ON → Taxi Speed ~ 20-30 Kts (Turns ~ 10 Kts)
Seat Belts Signs ON
No Smoking Switch AUTO
BEFORE TAKEOFF
Fuel Quantity CHECK
Call „Before Start Checklist - to the Line“ FCU Panel SET
BEFORE START - verify V2, Cleared Altitude & RWY HDG are SET
- verify preselect Modes - PROFILE & NAV

ANTI-ICE AS REQ - follow Flight Director Bars

- maintain V2
ATC CLEARANCE (TAXI) AS REQ/DES @ ~ 400 ft AGL → engage Autopilot or furthe follow FD Bars
Nose Lights TAXI @ 1.500 ft AGL - verifiy active FMAs P.THR | P.CLB | NAV
RWY Turn Off Lights AS REQ - verify FCU SPD/MACH & VS are dashed ( - - - )
- verify TRP switched to AUTO / CL
- retracts Flaps above F-Speed (if used) (set Flap Lever to 1)
- restract Slats above S-Speed (set Flap Lever to 0)

Top Of Descent CROSS CHECK - Flaps → 15/0 (Flaps 1)
- Speed → S-Speed
TOP OF DESCENT - AUTOPILOT → LAND (if on LOC Intercept course)
- enage 2nd Autopilot for AUTOLAND
Estimated Top Of Descent (TOD) Formula: - verify armed FMAs (blue) | GS | LOC
(Cruise Alt. – Dest. Alt.) / 1.000 x 3 +15 = TOD in NM Out @ GLIDE SLOPE
This is just a rule of thumb to obtain a 3° descent path. - verify active FMAs | GS | LOC
- Speed → VAPP
- Flaps → 15/15 (Flaps 2)
DESCENT
- Landing Gear → DOWN
@ ~ 30 NM BEFORE TOD - Ground Spoilers → ARM
F-PLN Page (verify or enter Approach) - Nose Light → TO
- press the LSK for the Destination Airport - Flaps → 15/20 (Flaps 3)
- press STAR and select Approach & STAR - Flaps → 30/40 (Flaps 4)
- press *INSERT Call „Landing Checklist“
- scroll through Flightplan and delete all Discontinuities LANDING
- press CLR and click the LSK of the Discontinuity
LANDING GEAR DOWN
- get Approach Alitude from Flightplan or from Charts
AUTOBRAKE AS REQ
TO/APPR Page ANTI SKID CHECKED
- enter Baro Minimums if known SLATS/FLAPS xx / xx
- verify Landing Speeds SPOILERS ARMED
ILS Frequency & Course (PED) SET Be fully configured and stable on LOC and GS latest:
LDG Elev SET @ ~ 3 NM/1.000 ft AGL else → GO AROUND
Fuel Quantity CHECK
DH AS DES - verify FMA | LAND | latest @ 200 ft
- 200 ft if no Baro Minimum entered) @ ~ 30 ft RA
- else -5 and OFF - on „RETARD“ - Thrust Levers → IDLE
FCU ALT SELECT SET - verify FMA | FLARE |
- Approach or Cleared Altitude or if not known, After TOUCHDOWN
- Destination altitude +2.500, round up to next full thousand ft - Thrust Levers → FULL REVERSE (until 80 Kts)
- pull Alt Selector (DOWN) to Arm the new Altitude - Thrust Levers → IDLE REVERSE (below 80 kts to 30 Kts)
Autobrake SET / LO or MED - disengage AP after ROLLOUT (if AUTOLAND)
GPWS Slats/Flaps Swicth (PED) AS REQ

GO AROUND SECURING THE AIRCRFAT


- Thrust Levers → FULL FORWARD Parking Brake OFF (CHOCKS)
- activate TO/GA (i.e. Clickspot on Left Glareshield) IRS all 3 OFF
- retract FLAPS one notch Crew Oxygen OFF
- retract LANDING GEAR @ positive Climb Exterior Lights all OFF
- select proper AP MODI (LVL/CH and HDG/NAV) ATS, Pitch Trim & Yaw Damper OFF
@ ~ 400 ft AGL → engage Autopilot or furthe follow FD Bars APU Bleed OFF
@ 1.500 ft AGL - verifiy active FMAs P.THR | P.CLB | NAV External Power AS REQ
- verify FCU SPD/MACH & VS are dashed ( - - - ) APU Master OFF
- verify TRP switched to AUTO / CL L INNER 2 Fuel Pump OFF
- retracts Flaps above F-Speed (if used) (set Flap Lever to 1) Emergency Exit Lights DISARM
- restract Slats above S-Speed (set Flap Lever to 0) Batteries all 3 OFF
