Content Standard: The learner understands the meaning and dimensions of democracy.
Performance standard: Using any form of oral presentation. The learner explains creatively the ill
effects of undemocratic practices related to factors such as gender biases, poverty, political
marginalization, racial inequality, cultural domination, crisis of representation and politics of
recognition.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:
A. Define democracy.
B. Demonstrate appreciation of the importance of democracy in daily life.
C. Reflect on the importance of democracy through spoken poetry, and rap or song writing.

Activity 1: Crack a Code
The teacher asks the students to play CRACK A CODE Game. The teacher will
give simple arithmetic equations to come up to a specific number. Each number
corresponds to a letter. Use these numbers to come up to the title of the lesson.

DEMOCRACY
- Democracy is a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the
people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under free electoral
system or a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges.

D. Application
The teacher divides the class into two groups. Each group is tasked to perform the
importance of democracy through spoken poetry, and rap or song writing. Rubric is
provided before the teacher let the learners do the task.
