CASE STORY TITLE: A Better Alternative for the Youth of Barangay Maligalig

Conflict Identification

The carelessness of the youth's well-being appears to have been the primary reason for conflict
in this case. There were not many youth-oriented activities. As a result, they focus on undesirable
hobbies like fighting and drug abuse. In addition, young people suffered from drug addiction and
exhibited signs of weakness in the barangay's anti-drug misuse effort. If not drugs, then other
vices like smoking and drinking alcohol.

Plan of Action

The government could implement many recreational and other activities in the barrio to assist in
resolving the primary dispute. Youth these days adore sports and online gaming, as we all know.
By organizing a twice-yearly competition in the barangay for various sports and online games,
children can thus maximize sports and gaming. The participants must first participate in other
barangay events, primarily campaigns against drug misuse, vices, and youth welfare. Barangay
authorities and youth leaders will direct this program. This would contribute to the welfare of the
children and offer them activities that would keep them away from negative influences.

Reflection

The fundamental conflict is also evident in this situation in numerous places, including our
neighborhood. Like the teenagers of Barangay Maligalig, many young people nowadays are
misinformed. They need direction and activities to help them improve their lives and develop into
better versions of themselves. Thus, the local government must devise initiatives and campaigns
to enhance the well-being of young people. The community should also be aware of vices
because they negatively impact it, particularly young people. As a result, the youth must get an
education on these challenges.
