CASE STORY TITLE: A Better Alternative for the Youth of Barangay Maligalig

Conflict Identification

The case of barangay Maligalig can also be seen at other barangays. Some youth sniff solvents
and rugby, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and even cause scenes in public places like the
market. These uncontrollable behaviors of some youth in barangay Maligalig have brought
concerns to the vendors in the market and other citizens.
Another conflict is that other youths in the barangay are being influenced to do the same, and
some are being forced to join their group and get beaten if refused. The situation in the barangay
Maligalig is getting out of hand.

Plan of Action

The youth’s welfare is one of the priorities of the barangay. Hence, recreational activities must
divert their attention and habits to such behaviors. This will also serve as a building block for the
youth to get o know each other and build their social selves to communicate with other people.
Moreover, recreational activities are something that these youth will cherish.

Reflection

These situations are seen not only in the said community but also in other places. And an
immediate and thorough plan to solve these issues will save the youth and other citizens in the
community. As a student, I know these behaviors are not usually harmful, but if done over, this
might cause some severe damage to the community and within themselves.
