As shown in the Table 10, among all the students who participated in the survey, most of

them experienced the challenge of lack of transportation as the main theme for the challenges on

early class schedule experienced by Asian Development Foundation College students residing in

Northern Tacloban.

Moreover, this result is supported by a study published by Charlotte West (2021), stated

that transportation barriers disproportionately affect low-income students and these four ways

transportation poses barriers for students: because of the cost, because stops or stations far

enough to where they live or work, because available routes and times don’t sync with college

schedules and because it’s unreliable.

In addition, according to Kenry a resident of Brgy 99 Diit Tacloban City, stated “Kuan,

makuri it panakayan tapos naghuhuruot didat bus.”

As shown in the Table 10 the second main theme for the challenges experienced by Asian

Development Foundation College students residing in Northern Tacloban is being late in class.

This result is supported by an article published by Safia Abdullahi (2023), stated that the

study was analyzed by the students’ digital traces with the use of Wi-fi connection logs and

revealed that class attendance of about 10 percentage points lower for classes at 8 AM compared

with later start times.

Moreover, 22 years old BSHM student residing in Brgy 97 Cabalawan Tacloban City,

stated “Kuan, hin, early class, kuan permi late.”

The third main theme as shown in Table 10 for the challenges experienced by Asian

Development Foundation College students residing in Norther Tacloban is lack of sleep.

In this result is supported by another article published in 2021 by David Zuckerman,

stated that falling asleep in class makes it impossible to learn, but that is not the biggest problem

for sleepy students. More common, less noticeable, and therefore, much more of a problem of

students who don’t get 8-9 hours of sleep have difficulty to concentrate in class and their ability

to remember what they read or hear. When teens don’t get enough sleep, their bodies go through

hormone changes that make them more tired and hungry.

In addition, a 1st year BSCrim student from Brgy 103 Palanog Tacloban City stated,

“Ahhh,,, the ano,,, ahh kuan, magutom, pwede lwat diba? Magutom and mapiraw something like

that and, pwede amo la?”
