A. Preparation
 Greetings Good morning, class! Good morning, ma’am.

How is your day so far? We are fine, ma’am.

That’s good to hear from all of

you.

 Prayer Before we begin the lesson this “In the name of the Father, and
morning, I am requesting Mr. of the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
Yap to lead the prayer” Amen….”

“Before you take your seats,

kindly pick up some pieces of (Students are picking up trash
paper and then arrange your and arranging their chairs)
chairs properly.”

Before you take your seats let’s

 Drill have first an energizer

(Students are dancing and

(Playing the Zumba) perform some stretching)
Okay, thank you, class. You may
now take your seats.

Let us check your attendance

 Checking of first
Attendance (Call the names of each student)
Everyone is present so, let us
give ourselves a clap.

Is anyone from the class who

 Review can still remember our lesson
last meeting? What have we
discussed?
Yes, Kyla?

Ma’am, our lesson last meeting

Right. So, Loyd, can you give me was all about Photosynthesis.
the definition of
photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is the process by
which plants use sunlight,
water, and carbon dioxide to
Very good! create oxygen and energy in the
form of sugar, Ma’am.
So, what are the 5 steps or
phases of photosynthesis? Yes,
Angel? Ma’am, the 5 phases of
photosynthesis are Absorption
of light, Transfer Of electrons,
That’s right! Production Of ATP, and Carbon
Fixation.
You have perfectly recalled the
previous lesson that we
discussed.

“Before we proceed to the

B. Motivation lecture proper, let’s play a game
first. The game is called “PASS
THE CABBAGE”.
I have prepared a paper
cabbage. Music will play in the
background, and you will pass
the cabbage to your classmates.
The last student who is holding
the cabbage when the music
stops need to peel a layer of the
cabbage. Each layer has a
scrambled letter. You are going
to arrange the letters and shout
“WEW” if the combined letter
are part of your body organs,
and “EW” if it does not belong
to your body organs.

Did you understand the

mechanics? Yes, Ma’am.

Is everyone ready? Yes ma’am. We are ready!

(Everyone is playing the game)
All right! Let us play the
“CABBAGE RELAY” *Music is playing in the
background*
(The following are the words
written on each layer of the
cabbage: Capillaries, Bread,
Aorta, Heart, Table, Shoes,
Veins, Pineapple, Blood.)

Did you enjoy our game? Yes, ma’am.

Very good!

Class, you may not take your Thank you, ma’am.

seats.

C. Presentation Now, class, based on the activity

that you played earlier, what
have you noticed?
Yes, Mikaela? Ma’am, I have noticed that all
the jumbled letters are for the
different organs and tissues of
the body.
Right. What part of the human
body system are those organs
and tissues belong to?
Yes, Rollie? Ma’am, I guess those organs
and tissues belong to the
circulatory system.

Very good!

Now, do you have any idea Yes, Ma’am. We will be

about what will be our lesson discussing the Circulatory
for today? System.
All right. So, we will be
exploring the circulatory
system.

D. Discussion Now, let’s define first what is

the circulatory system.

All cells in the body need to

have oxygen and nutrients, and
they need their wastes
removed. These are the main
roles of the circulatory system

The system that circulates blood

and lymph through the body.

Who has an idea of what

specific organs make up the
circulatory system?
Yes, Karen? Heart and blood vessels, ma’am

Very Good!

The system contains the heart

and the blood vessels and
moves blood throughout the
body. The main function of the
circulatory system is to provide
oxygen, nutrients, and
hormones to muscles, tissues,
and organs throughout your
body. Another part of the
circulatory system is to remove
waste from cells and organs so
your body can dispose of it. This
blood circulation keeps organs,
muscles, and tissues healthy
and working to keep you alive.

Now, let’s discuss the different

organs and their functions in
the circulatory system.

What is the first organ in the

circulatory system?
Yes, Rain? The heart, ma’am.
Right. Do you have any idea This muscular organ works to
about the function of the heart? pump blood ma’am.

Very good.

It's the muscle at the center of

your circulation system,
pumping blood around your
body as your heart beats. This
blood sends oxygen and
nutrients to all parts of your
body and carries away
unwanted carbon dioxide and
waste products.

Now, the next organ is the

Arteries. Oxygenated blood is
pumped from the heart along
arteries, which are muscular.
Arteries divide like tree
branches until they are slender.
The largest artery is the aorta,
which connects to the heart and
picks up oxygenated blood from
the left ventricle. The only
artery that picks up
deoxygenated blood is the
pulmonary artery, which runs
between the heart and lungs..

Another organ is the Veins.

Veins have one-way valves
instead of muscles, to stop
blood from running back the
wrong way. Generally, veins
carry deoxygenated blood from
the body to the heart, where it
can be sent to the lungs. The
exception is the network of
pulmonary veins, which take
oxygenated blood from the
lungs to the heart.

Next, is the Capillaries. The

arteries eventually divide into
the smallest blood vessel, the
capillary. Capillaries are so tiny
that blood cells can only move
through them one at a time.
Oxygen and food nutrients pass
from these capillaries to the
cells. Capillaries are also
connected to veins, so wastes
from the cells can be
transferred to the blood.

Now, did you know that our

circulatory system has circuits? Yes, Ma’am.

So, Carl, what are these

circuits? The pulmonary circuit, The
systemic circuit, The coronary
Very Good. circuit, ma’am.

Blood circulates through your

heart and through these circuits
in a continuous pattern.

 The pulmonary circuit-

This circuit carries blood
without oxygen from
the heart to the lungs.
The pulmonary veins
return oxygenated
blood to the heart.
 The systemic circuit: In
this circuit, blood with
oxygen, nutrients, and
hormones travels from
the heart to the rest of
the body. In the veins,
the blood picks up
waste products as the
body uses up oxygen,
nutrients, and
hormones.
 The coronary circuit:
Coronary refers to your
heart’s arteries. This
circuit provides the
heart muscle with
oxygenated blood. The
coronary circuit then
returns oxygen-poor
blood to the heart’s
right upper chamber
(atrium) to send to the
lungs for oxygen.

So, is there any more

questions?
None so far ma’am.

E. Application Since there is no question, let’s

have another activity. This time,
you will be grouped into three. (Students are grouped into
three)
Class, listen for the instruction. I
provided an illustration of the
circulatory system. All you must
do is place the name of the
organs and tissues to where it is Yes, ma’am.
located. Do you understand?

Now, you can start your activity.

You will be given 5 minutes to
finish your work.
(Students are doing their
Times Up! Pass your activity. activity)

Group 1 will be the first one to

report, followed by group 2, and
the last to report is group 3.
(Students are reporting)
Thank you, class. You may now
take your seats.

F. Generalization So, what do you call the organ

that pumps blood throughout
the body? Yes, Angeline? The heart, ma’am.

Right. What are the circuits of

the circulatory system? Yes,
Roel?
The pulmonary circuit, The
systemic circuit, The coronary
Very good. circuit, ma’am.

Mark, can you differentiate

these three circuits?

Yes, ma’am. The pulmonary

circuit- This circuit carries blood
without oxygen from the heart
to the lungs. The systemic
circuit - In this circuit, blood
with oxygen, nutrients, and
hormones travels from the
heart to the rest of the body.
And lastly, the coronary circuit:
Coronary refers to your heart’s
arteries. This circuit provides
Excellent! the heart muscle with
oxygenated blood.
You really understood our topic
well.

G. Evaluation Now, to test your

understanding, I want you to
get ½ sheet of paper and
answer the following.

Directions: Write TRUE if the

statement is correct and FALSE
if the statement is wrong.
1. Nutrients are
transported to all cells
in the body through
blood vessels.
2. Arteries contain valves
that prevent the
backward flow of blood.
3. Damaged blood vessels
are 'clotted' with the
help of platelets in the
blood until a full repair
can be undertaken.
4. A stroke occurs when
an area of the heart
muscle dies.
5. Blood vessels in the
body include arteries,
veins, and capillaries.

Answer Key:
1. TRUE
2. FALSE
3. TRUE
4. FALSE
5. TRUE
