LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE IV

TOPIC Effects Of Force On The Size Of An Object

GRADE LEVEL IV
TIME ALLOTMENT
DATE AND TIME
LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
Content Standard: Demonstrates understanding that force can change the size of an object.
Performance Standard: Uses different kinds of force to change the size of objects.
Learning competencies: Explain the effect/s of force on the size of objects. (S4FE-IIIa-1)

Unpacked/Specific Objectives:
a. To identify the effects of force on the size of an object,
b. To infer how force affects the size of an object,
c. To demonstrate how force can change the size of an object.
ENGAGE MATERIALS
A. Review
1. Ask: What happens to the shape of an object if force is applied on • Power point Presentation
it? • Pictures
2. Say: I will show you a picture of objects. You have to write what • Garter

happened if force is applied to it.

Objects Effect of Force Applied
1. Rubber band
2. Bottle cap
3. Biscuit
4. Egg shell
5. Cardboard

B. Motivation
a. Each student will measure the unstretched garter using a ruler
without stretching it.
b. Stretch the garter until it reaches its maximum length.
c. Compare the length of garter before and while it was being
stretch.
Ask:
 What you have discovered?
 What force was exerted?
 What would happen to the size of an object if force is
applied on it?

EXPLORE MATERIALS
C. Presentation
a. Ask: what did you apply to an object to change its size? What will • Plastic Bottle
happen to size of an object if you apply force? • Sponge
b. Each group will read their answer • Paper
c. (See Group Activity A) • Garter
1. Put out the assigned materials on the table. • Pencil
2. Think of what you can do to change the size of each • Rubrics for the Activity
material. • Manila paper
• Marker
3. Perform the action that you have thought for each of the
material.
4. Record the actions you have done and their effects on the
materials in the table.
5. Be ready to present the data.
EXPLAIN MATERIALS
D. Discussion
1. Presentation of output  Power point Presentation
2. The teacher will give feedbacks and recommendations.
3. Presentation of the lesson.
Ask:
a. How would you describe the size of the materials before force
was applied on them?
b. How would you describe the size of materials after force was
applied?
c. Which of the materials became bigger? Smaller?
d. What is the effect of force on the size of the materials?

ELABORATE MATERIALS
E. Application
1. Group the pupils in three (3) groups. • Power point Presentation
(See Group Activity B) • Worksheet
• Rubrics for the Activity
F. Generalization Ask:
a. What is the effect of force on size of an object?
b. What will happen when force is applied to an object?

EVALUATE MATERIALS
G. Evaluation
(See Activity sheet)  Worksheet

H. Assignment
Direction: Read the situation and answer the given question in your
notebook.

Your uncle gave you a new dress that doesn’t fit you. What will
happen if you force yourself to wear the dress? Write your answer in
your notebook.
