DAILY LESSON LOG Teacher Ms. Janecil A. Bonza Date May 29-June 2,2023
Number of Week Week 4 Quarter Fourth

I. OBJECTIVES MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY

A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of comparing mitosis and meiosis, and their role in the cell-division cycle.
B. Performance Standard The learners should be able to report on the importance of variation in plant and animal breeding.
C. Learning Competencies /
Write the LC code for each S8LT-IVd-16

Objectives:
1. Describe the different stages of mitosis in plant and animal cell
2. Give an example of a cell that undergoes mitosis
3. Explain the importance of mitosis in a cell cycle

II. CONTENT
Compare mitosis and meiosis, and their role in the cell-division cycle.

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing the Review the previous lesson through questions.

previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson

B. Establishing a purpose for

the lesson

To introduce that there are two kinds of gametes which undergo gametogenesis.
C. Presenting
examples/instances for the
new lesson Activity 1
Materials: 2 envelopes, 2 cut out pictures
Directions: Group the students into 2. Each group will be given an envelope which contains cut out pictures the egg and the sperm cell. Each group
should assemble the cut out pictures, post it on the board, and observe what is in the picture. Each group must also select one representative to describe
their work in front of the class. They will be given 1 minute and 30 secs to do the task.
Group 1: Group 2:

Question: Do you know how these gametes undergo gametogenesis through meiosis?

D. Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills # 1 Activity 2
Directions: Group students into 2. (Boys vs. girls) Each group will be given an envelope containing cut out pictures of the gametogenesis of the egg and
the sperm cell. Let them assemble the pictures in a manila paper by observing what is in the picture. Each group must select a representative who will
discuss their work in front of the class. They will be given 3 minutes to do the task.
Group 1 Group 2

E. Discussing new concepts  Each group will present their output. After the report, the teacher will define what gametogenesis is and afterwards present to them the process.
and practicing new skills # 2  The teacher will explain the concept of each process of gametogenesis in egg and sperm cell. Afterwards, give feedback if the key events from their
activity relates to the concept of the pictures. (State the winner from the activity.)
Insert values integration.
F. Developing mastery Activity 3 (Making a diagram)
(Leads to Formative Materials: manila paper, crayons, marker
Assessment 3) Directions: Group the students into 4. Let them make a diagram or illustrate the process of gametogenesis in egg and sperm cell. The first two groups will
make the diagram of gametogenesis in the egg cell and the second two groups will make a diagram of gametogenesis in the sperm cell. Each group must
select a representative who will present their output in front of the class. Give them 3 minutes to do the task.
G. Finding practical Give a brief summary of the role of the meiosis in gametogenesis.
applications of concepts and
skills in daily living

H. Making generalizations
and
abstractions about the lesson

I. Evaluating Learning True or False

Directions: Write vvw if the statement is true or correct and write wwv if the statement is false or wrong.
1. There are four polar bodies that is produced at the end of the oogenesis.
2. Each of the four spermatozoa contains half the number of chromosomes.
3. In meiosis I of oogenesis, there are two haploid cells being produced – one is big and one is small.
4. In meiosis I of spermatogenesis, each of the two cells being produced contains the complete number of chromosomes.
Gametogenesis is the production of egg and sperm cells through the process of meiosis.
J. Additional activities for
application for remediation Directions: Research at least three chromosomal abnormalities which can be happened during the process of meiosis. Write it in a ½ crosswise sheet
of paper.

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who
earned 80% in the
evaluation.
B. No. of learners who
require additional activities
for remediation who scored
below 80%.
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson.

D. No. of learners who

continue to require
remediation

E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well?
Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish
to share with other
teachers?
