    (A Teaching Strategy Using Math Tutorial Videos)

    III. Introduction:

    The pandemic has brought so much difficulty to learners in terms of coping up


    with their lessons. That is because learners stay at home and study through distance
    learning using modules. One of the learning areas which put stress to learners is
    Mathematics. Learners learn the lessons easily if the teacher is with them teaching
    the step-by-step process in learning the different competencies. Learners can ask
    question right away if they want to clarify something. That is not the case in modular
    distance learning especially if learners cannot ask the teacher using cellphones or
    internet. That is why to come up with tutorial videos which the learners may view
    anytime they want and in their convenient time is very helpful.

    IV. Problem Description:

    Project BLYTH - Bringing Learning through YouTube to Homes is a very


    timely, convenient, and effective teaching strategy that makes leaners’ educational
    experience more meaningful, favorable, and helpful with retention of competencies.
    It is composed of self-made tutorial videos focused on the weekly competencies per
    quarter which are aligned to the competencies in their Self-Learning Modules. These
    can be viewed online through YouTube or can be viewed after downloaded at the
    learners’ own preferred time at the convenience of their homes.

    V. Statement of Project Objective:

    This project aims to:

    1. Assist learners in learning their weekly lessons at the convenience of their


    homes.
    2. Guide learners in performing their weekly learning tasks even without the
    presence of the teacher.
    3. Mastery of the competencies by learners through recorded guided activities.

    VI. Benefits of Solving the Problem:

    Project BLYTH has the following benefits:

    1. Video tutorials help with distance learning. Even without the presence of the
    teacher, learners can learn the lesson. Learners are specifically guided how to
    do their Self-Learning Modules.
    2. Video tutorials allow repetition. The ability to pause, rewind, stop and play a
    video tutorial in YouTube helps students replay important points that they
    need to remember, which is essential for memory retention. In a live
    classroom, it's easy to miss what the teacher says at any given moment, but
    with a video tutorial, notes can be rechecked for accuracy. A lesson in video
    format allows students to focus in on specific segments, as well as play the
    information in its entirety.
    3. Video tutorials provide variety. Video tutorials offer a multidimensional
    experience that may combine charts, slides, photos, graphics, narration,
    screenshots, on-screen captions, music, and live video. This allows students
    with different learning abilities to retain information in a method more suited to
    them.
