Ladies & gentlemen, in this fast paced, competitive world we live in today, never has the demand for
continuous development and innovation been more momentous. Malaysia, soaring to become an
innovation-driven nation places STEM Education as her key strategic aim, racing to promote high-
impact and sustainable STEM activities, and nurturing the mind sets of her people on valuable skills to
brave The Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when launching the 2023 national Teachers Day
celebration, themed “Guru Insani Pemangkin Generasi Madani” at Melaka International Trade Centre
on Tuesday (May 16) said in his speech that Science and Technology related subjects are imperative
owing that the global pace is moving towards green technology, so Education Ministry has been asked
to set up a special task force to stimulate children’s interest in these subjects and in solving the
challenge and exploring new disciplines in science and technology.

Acknowledging the efforts by the Malaysian Government, Lighthouse of Hope (Sarawak) Berhad has
been partnering with Song District Education Office since last year to conduct workshops for teachers
and pupils alike as well as setting up our district’s STEM Hub here in SJK(C) Hin Hua. Lighthouse of
Hope (Sarawak) Berhad has also been providing us with an extensive network of experts from various
universities and corporate bodies to elevate our STEM Education. Through this letter of agreement,
both parties has agreed to provide a long lasting partnership to contribute in Song District STEM
Education. The signing of an MoU makes sure both parties are on the same page, setting out the terms
of relationship for mutual benefits. This collaboration would make it possible for further participation,
grooming and mentoring of 27 primary schools and 3 secondary schools in Song.

Next, I would like to invite Mr. Etam anak Linggi and Dr Lee Chee San to exchange the MoU.

Thank you for gracing our MoU signing ceremony. Please be seated.
