5.0 CONSTRUCTION
The purpose of this work sequence is to protect the high strength geotextile from damaged by the
construction equipment and deterioration due weathering. After PVD and PHD were completely install
and conduct inspection with SOR, lay and compact 200mm drainage sand layer and conduct field
density test. Once the field density test is pass, setting up high strength geotextile based on approved
shop drawing with the witness of SOR. Laying of high strength geotextile will start up to 50m-100m.
Inspection of geotextile shall be carried out to confirm the length of geotextile laying and seaming of
geotextile as per project specification. Method of installation and seaming refers to Method Statement
ref. no.: SSTR-SCJV-PB01-MST-00006 (Rev.00). As-built of high strength geotextile shall be taking
after full width of laying.

Temporary access road will be made with laying of sand from right-hand side counter berm, 1.5m
away from rod settlement gauge and the width is ≤ 8m to road embankment with proper compaction,
sand thickness is 500mm. Laying of sand will lay up to 50m-100m to serve as the temporary access
road. The width of the access road may subject to modification that is made according to treatment
type and site condition.

Before laying of temporary access road, the plywood with the size of 4’ x 8’ will placed on the interface
of geotextile to protect the geotextile from passing through by heavy machineries.
Plywood also will place above the geotextile located at the left-hand side and temporary close with the
warning caution tape to avoid heavy machineries or car to go through.

Laying of sand will continuously at left hand side until reach full width.
After lay first 300mm (first reinforcement layer) of full width compacted sandfill, enter 2 weeks rest
period. Proceed with the sandfill for another 200mm (second reinforcement layer) up until achieve the
thickness of 500mm as per drawing. Field density test shall carry out after the compaction for both
layers.
Wrapping back geotextile minimum 1500mm as per drawing. Then, 0.5m of capping layer will be
placed by using the excavation materials on the both sides of the embankment. Wait as per the waiting
period 1 specified in the road foundation treatment schedule.
The work sequence will be repeated up to every 50m-100m on site. The sand filling work up to 50m-
100m (full width) shall be completed in 14 days. The actual complete time may subject to change due
to the weather and site condition.
During the construction work, temporary signage such as advance warning sign or temporary barrier
shall be placed at proper position to effectively convey the message to workers at site.

Safety and health aspects shall be exercised before and when implementation of the works and shall
be in accordance to Safety and Health Management Plan and other relevant documents stated in section
3.1. All control measures required for the activity is listed in Appendix 2: Job Safety and Health
Analysis.

1. Safety officer shall be informed of the works to be performed and HIRARC of the works to be
carried out is established and approved.
2. Relevant personnel on site shall be briefed of the emergency contact details, response and made
reference to procedures in accordance to Project Emergency Response and Preparedness Plan.
3. Pre-task briefing will be conducted by the safety personnel in charge based on the control measures
detailed in the Job Safety and Health Analysis, Appendix 2.
4. In the event of any emergencies, the work team representative is required to immediately contact
the designated safety personnel as per the Project Emergency Response and Preparedness plan.

1. In general, construction activities will inevitably contribute to some soil dispersion as well as
sediment pollution and any increase the concentration of suspended solids in the receiving
waterways.
2. Complying with all the requirements and statutory requirements in order to preserve and take care
due care of the local existing environment.
3. The potential environmental impacts shall be identified by the project team for all the related
activities and control measures shall be developed concurrently based on the identified impacts.
4. Check dam shall be constructed across the temporary earth drainage ditch. Silt fence also shall be
constructed around the stock pile area and along the river on both sides within the ROW in this
project. Silt fence consists of non-woven geotextile and supported by wooden fence.
5. Silt trap that comprises rock in gabions shall be constructed in respective catchment area to collect
and store sediment before entering natural waterways.
6. For detail environmental work, please refer to method statement for erosion and sediment control,
document no.: SSTR/SCJV/PB01/MST/00015 (Rev.01).
7. Dust control measures shall apply to construction site where there is the potential for air pollution
from dust traveling through the air.
8. To control sand dust on site, a water tanker is driven on site spraying water over the affected area
preventing the sand dust. Water should be applied a couple of times a day, depending on the
atmospheric conditions. The quantity of water applied should be carefully managed to prevent
excess water that can cause erosion problems.
9. Set appropriate and site-specific speed limits for vehicles enter the site to minimize generating dust.
Install signpost at suitable location on site and site workers are aware of designated speed limits.
