STATEMENT OF PURPOSE-BASHA ALHASSAN

As a young graduate from the elementary who lost both parents through a car
accident, I was compelled by life’s hardships to enter into petty trading with the
aim of starting my own business. That is where my business ideas emanated
from.
As naïve as I was in running a business, I could not bear with the challenges
that I was confronted with in the business realm. As a result, all small
businesses that I started failed in the end, but that never killed my interest in
business.
One lesson I have learnt during my experiences starting a small business is that,
there are many aspects of the business that require an intimate understanding of
basic principles and it is what has inspired me to read business management at
the undergraduate level.
At the undergraduate level, I took several courses in Business Management,
Managerial Economics, Business Mathematics and Statistics, Marketing
Management, Production and Operations Management, Strategic Management
and many other related courses as it is on my transcript. I was very much drawn
to the elegance of Business Management studies.
The urge and the zeal to undertake post-graduate studies in business was
nurtured during my undergraduate studies. My passion for this captivating
science was due to my academic background and mentorship of my lecturers.
The completion of my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration has
competently prepared and adequately equipped me for my next venture. I
believe that, Master of Business Administration in Management offered by
Viterbo University perfectly fits my pursuit of higher education and a unifying
career experience.
Over the past four years, I have helped to build and run a business, as well as
made tough decisions to ensure its growth. I have again come to the realization
of how difficult it is to really set up a viable venture without better
understanding of the vital concepts that I would need to make better future
decisions.
While I was assisting to initiate and grow the business, I learnt about the
necessity of closely monitoring the supply chain and to also constantly assess
changes in demand of various products and services to adjust inventory
accordingly. These lessons have given me a greater appreciation for the
complex decisions that business leaders have to make and has cemented my
dedication and determination to return to school to enhance my knowledge in
business field.
Through this MBA program at Viterbo University, I will be able to deepen my
strategic knowledge in business practices, to broaden my influence in work
place, and to build my leadership and management skills to be able to move my
career forward. Through the specific training that I will receive during my time
in the Master of Business Administration program at your reputable university
(Viterbo University), I will develop skills that will enhance my ability to work
on real world projects that will change my creativity and leadership skills.
Additionally, the ability to apply knowledge through applied learning
experiences will also give me exposure to real-world scenarios similar to those
that I will encounter in the future as I build my own business, this time armed
with the knowledge and advice that I will gain from the program. I am confident
that completing this MBA program will give me the tools that I would need to
become a successful business person in my own right, building something of
my own using a combination of both innovations and sharp business acumen.
With this goal in mind, I believe Viterbo University is the right environment to
nurture this dream through post-graduate studies due to the track record of the
university in producing some of the world’s most outstanding graduates and the
educational environment of the university. I will be very glad to be considered
for the Graduate Teaching Assistantship or any other form of scholarship. I am
determined to make the most out of the admission. I am confident in my choice
