ACTIVITY 1.1 LET’S MAKE IT PHYSICAL

Introduction

Creatures known as eukaryotes have cells that have a membrane-bound

nucleus and other organelles that are membrane-bound. A eukaryotic cell's nucleus
houses the DNA that is contained within a nuclear envelope. additional membrane-
bound. The mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, and chloroplast are examples of
organelles. Creatures that can produce photographs, such as plants and algae. Other
multicellular eukaryotes include everything else, including such as fungus, animals,
and plants.
Plant life is made up primarily of microscopic cells. Plant cells' internal organs
are enclosed within a hard structure termed a cell wall, as opposed to animal cells,
which lack distinctive shape due to the flexible skin covering their anatomy. The plant
cell is hence largely rectangular in shape. It is helpful to build scale models of these
tiny, basic units of plant life in order to examine their anatomies because they are too
small to observe. The organelles of the plant cell, which are abundantly represented
by recycled materials.
In this activity you are going to illustrate and identify the different parts and
functions of the cell.

Objectives

Most Essential Learning Competency:

Distinguish prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells according to their distinguishing

features (STEM_BIO11/12- Ia-c-3).

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this home-based laboratory activity, you should be able to:
1. Create a 3-Dimensional structure of plant cell utilizing recycled
materials;
2. Identify the various parts and function of the plant cell and
3. Demonstrate the 3-dimensional parts of the cell.

2
Materials

Used buttons and beads

Used egg trays
Stick glue
Scissor or cutter
Glue gun
Plastic Bottles
Plastic bottle caps (any color will do)
colored papers
Watercolor or any paint or coloring materials available
Spring of used notebook or Garter

Procedures

PRECAUTION!
Be careful in using the scissors or cutter and plugging of glue gun in
outlet. Ask for the assistance of an adult in performing this task.

1. Look for used buttons or beads, egg trays, plastic bottles and caps, a spring of
used notebook or Garter, and water color or coloring materials which are
available at home.
2. Start by identifying which materials will you used in the different organelles in
creating your 3D plant cell.
3. Using the materials, make a three-dimensional model of the plant cell.
4. Make the model as complete including its parts and as accurate as you can.
5. In order to demonstrate the components of the plant cell, the students will
record a video and send it to the teacher afterwards.
