VII. Rationale: In today’s world, the whole of humanity confronts more frequent and deadlier
disasters than before due to Global Warming and Climate Change triggered both by
human activities and natural calamities such as typhoon, fire, flashflood, landslides,
volcanic eruptions, storm surge, high tide, earthquake and even spread of a deadly
virus. These calamities, risks and threats can cause destabilization and disruption in the
community resulting to human, material and environment losses. More so, these are
inevitable but can at least be reduced and less devastating to the people as well as the
surroundings if they are well informed. Schools therefore should also be prepared and
ensure the protection of its students and school personnel in the event disasters occur.
VIII. Objectives: The Contingency Plan specifically aims to:
1. To gain knowledge and skills about disaster-risk preparedness, prevention,
mitigation and reduction.
2. To learn the techniques and scientific approach on what to do before, during and
after the occurrence of all forms of possible hazards/threats/calamities in our
school and respective areas.
3. To increase awareness among students, teachers, members of SDRRR Task Force
the value of school-managed disaster-risk reduction ad its contribution to the
safety of the students, teacher and the community.
