Do we have an assignment? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, pass your assignment forward and the
persons who seats in front pass the paper in
the center aisle.

In a count of 5,4,3,2,1.

Are all papers in? Yes ma’am!

Awesome!

B. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON

So, class I have here an activity.
The name of the activity is “CHOOSE ME
WISELY!”

This is a very simple activity. There will be a

questions and choices to be flash in the TV.
You just need to choose the correct answer.

I have a bottle of popsicle sticks with the name

of your class written on each one. The name
that I get from the bottle will be the one who
answers the question.

Understand? Yes, ma’am.

(Start of the activity….)

Now, class base on our activity, what was our

last topic? Ma’am Classification of Triangles.

Very Good, you really understand our last

topic!
Let’s give our self a hand.

Since we are done with the Classification of

Triangle.
Let us now proceed to our next lesson.

C. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR

THE LESSON
Class, I have here a House.
What have you observed in this house class? There are shapes being form ma’am.

Very Good!
What else did you see? The color is blue ma’am and black ma’am.

Excellent.

Now, class where is blue color belong? How

about the black? Primary, Secondary or The blue is primary ma’am while the black is
Tertiary? tertiary ma’am.

That’s great.

Class, do you know what are the primary Blue, Yellow, and red ma’am.
colors?

Yes, that’s correct.

Can anyone give me an example of secondary Green is secondary ma’am while brown is
and tertiary colors? tertiary.

Very Good!

Okay! Do you know class that this house is my

Dream House?
Yes, ma’am.
Do you have your own dream house class?

That’s good to hear.

Yes, ma’am.
Now, class. Do you want to hear a story?

On the past few days, as I investigate my

dream house there’s something come up into
my mind. I want to change something on it and
that’s the color of my dream house. That’s why Yes ma’am.
I hired a painter. The painter’s name is Primo.

The next day, Primo started his work. When

Primo want to go to the roof. He use a 35foot
ladder leaning against the side of the roof and
the base of the ladder which is 21 feet from the
base of my dream house. But the tragedy
comes, there was an earthquake happened.
(Students answer may vary)
Do you know class what is an earthquake?
Excellent!
Let’s continue the story.

So, the place was shaking, and it happened that

painter fell.
(Students answer may vary)
Now, what do you think class will happened to
the painter?

Okay, maybe he will collapse, or his bones will Yes, ma’am.

be fractured right?

Now the questions is how long the painter fell

from the roof of my dream house to the
ground?
No ma’am.
Any idea?

D. PRESENTING NEW LESSON

So, to answer the question.
This morning, our lesson is all about
Pythagorean Theorem.

But before that let us read first the objectives: At the end of the discussion, the students will
be able to:
1) State the Pythagorean Theorem;
2) Proves Pythagorean Theorem using
examples and activities;
3) Construct examples using the Pythagorean
Theorem related to real life situation.
4) Give importance on Pythagorean
Theorem in solving real life problem.

E. UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
But before we go beyond to our discussion, let
us look to the words that we may encounter
during our discussion.
Pythagorean Theorem- In a right triangle, the
square of hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the
squares of the legs.

Right Triangles- A triangle in which one of

the interior angles is 90° is called a right
triangle. The longest side of the right triangle,
which is also the side opposite the right angle,
is the hypotenuse and the two arms of the right
angle are the height and the base.

Hypotenuse- the longest side of a right

triangle.

F. DISCUSSION
Do you know him class? No, ma’am!
(Presenting the picture of Pythagoras)

This is Pythagoras.

Do you know class that the person who

discover Pythagorean Theorem is no other than
the one in only Pythagoras.

Pythagoras is a Greek
philosopher, mathematician,
and a founder of Pythagorean
Theorem. He was born in
Samos, Greece around 570
B.C. He is most famous for
his mathematical theorem.
Pythagoras also made extraordinary
developments in astronomy and geometry. He
also developed a theory of music while and
founded a philosophical and religious school in
Croton, Italy.

Now, class how long the Pythagorean

Theorem exist? From 570 B.C to today? 1453 years ma’am.

Very Good!

Pythagorean Theorem states that in a right

triangle, the square of hypotenuse is equal to
the sum of the squares of the legs.

So, meaning, in a right triangle a2+b2= c2,

where A + B are the length of the legs forming
right angle. And C is the length of the longest
legs known as hypotenuse, the legs opposite to
right angle. A is the height, b is the base and c
is the hypotenuse or longest legs.
Remember that Pythagorean Theorem is only
applicable in Right Triangle.

Let us try to prove the Pythagorean Theorem

using this illustration.

We use the formula:

a2+b2= c2

If the length a is 3cm, and the length b is 4cm

the hypotenuse of the given illustration is
25cm.

So, using the illustration let’s count if the

length of a in a right triangle plus the length of
b is equal to the hypotenuse of the right
triangle.

Let’s count the length of the side A. 9 9

How about the B? 16 16
So, the theorem states that if these two sides
are being added then the result of this is equal
to the hypotenuse.
Let’s count the length C. 25

So, 9+16 is equal to 25.

So, this only means that the theorem is real. Is

that right class? Yes, ma’am.

What if the missing term is Side A?

All we need to do is to subtract the Side C
which is the Hypotenuse and the Side B.

Let’s try. Since the side C is 25 and side b is

16. And 25-16 is equal to 9.
Is this true? Yes, ma’am.

Very Good!

So as if the missing side is b. You just need to

subtract side A from the hypotenuse or the side
c in the right triangle.

Did you get it class? Yes, ma’am.

Now, class let us go back to my story. Yes, ma’am.

So, the painter use the 35foot ladder leaning

against the side of the roof and the base of the
ladder which is 21 feet from the base of my
dream house. The question is how long the None, ma’am.
painter fell from the roof of my dream house to
the ground?
Yes, ma’am.
So we have,
a2+b2= c2
b2= c2-a2
b2=352-212
b2= 1255- 441
b2=784
√𝑏2 =√784
b=28ft

So meaning the measure of the painter fell

from the roof of my house to the ground is
28cm.

Did you understand? Yes, ma’am.

Excellent!

Let’s try another example:

Who wants to try?

Pat is trying to fill his new hummingbird

feeder. The feeder sits on a pole that is 16cm
off the ground. Pat leads a 20cm ladder against
the pole to reach the feeder. How far from the
base of the pole does his ladder sit? a2+b2 =c2
b2= c2-a2
b2=202-162
b2= 400-256
b2=144
√𝑏2 =√144
b=12cm
Very Good!
Let’s give a firework clap to ourself.
(Performing the fireworks claps)

Do you have any questions? Clarifications?

Since you don’t have a question. Let us have

a game. Are you ready to our game?

[ Application]

Before we proceed to our quiz. Let us try if you

fully understood our topic. I will group you
into 4 groups. This column will be the group 1,
that column will be the group 2. And in my
right side this column will be the group 3 and
this part will be the group 4.
There are 4 stations in the different corner of
the classroom that being pasted. The group 1
will place here, the group there, 3 is there and
group 4 is there. I will give each group a
4pieces of bond paper. I will only give 2
minutes in every station. Every group should
go to the \next station after the 2 minutes.
After that we will check your work.

Are you ready?

Yes, ma’am.
(Start of the activity….)
Very Good Class!
Do you understand?
Go back to your seats now. Yes, ma’am.

G. FINDING PRACTICAL
APPLICATIONS OF CONCEPTS AND
SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING
Class, can we apply Pythagorean Theorem in
real life? Can you give an example? (Student answer may vary)

Excellent!

How would you apply your knowledge about (Student answer may vary)
Pythagorean Theorem in Real world?

H. MAKING A GENERALIZATION AND

ABSTRACTION ABOUT THE LESSON
Do you have any clarification or question
based on our discussion? None, ma’am.

Since you don’t have any question, then I have.

Based on our discussion today, what is

Pythagorean Theorem? The Pythagorean theorem is a right triangle,
where the square of hypotenuse is equal to the
sum of the squares of the legs.

Excellent!

What is the Formula of Pythagorean Theorem? a2+b2 =c2

Excellent!
Again, anybody here in the class who have
question or clarification? None, ma’am.

Very well, you class did a good job!

Let us give ourselves Magaling, Mabuhay
Clap.

Since you don’t have any question, get ½

crosswise for we will be having our quiz.
I. EVALUATING LEARNING
Activity: Answer Me!
