6. RESPONSIBILITIES ON SITE

6.1 Cosmetic repair works of the uneven surfaces of Underground

Car Park ramp retaining walls and related activities shall be
undertaken by a dedicated group headed by a Foreman under the
over-all supervision of a Site Engineer.

6.2 The Site Engineer shall raise the necessary Request for
Inspection (RFI) for surface preparation and cosmetic repair
mortar application activity. All other intermediate activities shall be
under surveillance point.

6.3 The Site Engineer shall be responsible for the quality aspect of
the work and compliance with this Method Statement and Project
Specifications.

6.4 Health, Safety and Environmental issues are addressed in

accordance with the approved HSE Plan (Document Submittal
No. CP 300(a)- DS-BOTH-01 /008) under the supervision of the
Site Engineer.

7. WORK PROCEDURE

This Method Statement shall be applied in conjunction with the Method

Statement on Painting Exterior Cement Plastered/Concrete Surfaces
(Document Submittal No. CP300(a)-DS-UCP-09-236; Code B).

Prior to application of primer paint, all uneven surfaces of ramps

retaining wall that will be painted shall receive a fairing coat of EMACO ®
R307.

7.1 Surface Preparation

The concrete surface shall be ensured sound, clean and

uncontaminated. All loose powdering material must be removed.

Prior to application of EMACO® R307, the surface shall be

electric mixer with suitable paddle.

When using full bags, add 3 to 4 litres of water to the container

then start mixing. EMACO® R307 powder shall be added while
mixing.

Add water as required to achieve the desired consistency. Mixes

for deep void filling shall have lesser water added to produce a
trowellable putty like mortar, while fairing coat/cosmetic mix shall
have more. No more than 7.5 litres of water shall be added per 20
kg. of EMACO® R307.

7.3 Application

Deeper voids shall be filled first prior to application of the

cosmetic coating.

Apply EMACO® R307 cosmetic coat to the uneven surfaces to be

painted with a minimum of trowelling.

Leave for a short period before final trowellling. Finishing may be

aided by flicking a small amount of water onto the surface using a
paintbrush before final trowelling.

7.4 Curing

Although EMACO® R307 is specially formulated to prevent

shrinkage and cracking, good curing practice is essential
particularly in hot and windy conditions by securely covering the
cosmetically repaired surface with plastic sheet.

Painting work activity as detailed under Method Statement on Painting

Exterior Cement Plastered/Concrete Surfaces (Document Submittal No.
CP300(a)-DS-UCP-09-236; Code B) shall commence after the fairing
coat has sufficiently cured.
