Historical Background

This is the first time that Islam is challenged by Kufr and not tribes.

Lessons

1. Unity and Cooperation -

a. Unity wins not the weapons

i. This was a much bigger battle than Badr and Uhud, yet they did
not have to fight

b. You may not see through every aspect of a command/order but you still
cooperate and put your trust in Allah SWT without bickering.

 Sometimes we question too much.

 The Bani Israel refused to go to the Promised Land

Two men of those who feared (Allah and) on whom Allah had bestowed His
Grace [they were Yusha' (Joshua) and Kalab (Caleb)] said: "Assault them
through the gate, for when you are in, victory will be yours, and put your
trust in Allah if you are believers indeed." (5:23)

i. Digging a trench is not heard of

ii. The Treaty of Hudaibiyah

Allah SWT says:

46
And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another)
lest you lose courage and your strength departs, and be patient. Surely, Allah
is with those who are patient. (8:46)

2. The Power of Du'a

 Connection to Allah SWT - The All Powerful

 Manifestation of faith in Allah SWT

a. What was the Prophet SAS doing?

On this night he made special Du’a to Allah:

"Oh Allah the One who's revealed the book, and the One who is quick in
retribution, destroy them and shake the ground from them".

 Ibn Ishaaq mentions not a single tent, pot or fire remained lit.

 Every single man among them had to flee because of the intensity
of the winds.

b. Victory granted by Allah without fight

c. The siege was prolonged for more than 25 days.

d. Division in the camp was also a great strain on the state of morale of the

besiegers.

O you who believe! Remember Allah's Favour to you, when there came
against you hosts, and We sent against them a wind and forces that you saw
not [i.e. troops of angels during the battle of AlAhzab (the Confederates)].
And Allah is Ever AllSeer of what you do. (9)
3. Always think good of Allah SWT no matter what happens

 Sometimes we don’t get the results we want

 We get the opposite although we do everything correct

 Then we start to think bad thoughts of Allah SWT

 Positive Expectations in Du'a:

o When making supplications (Dua), it is recommended to have positive

expectations that Allah will answer the prayer in a way that is best for
the individual,

o Even if the response is not immediate or in the form expected. This

encourages patience and perseverance in seeking Allah's help

 Avoiding Negative Assumptions:

o Believers are advised to avoid negative assumptions about Allah, such as

thinking that He is unfair, unkind, or unjust.

o Such negative assumptions can lead to despair and weaken one's faith

 Above all Allah SWT knows what is in the hearts

And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the chest. (13)

Allah SWT says:

When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when
the eyes grew wild and the hearts reached to the throats, and you were
harboring doubts about Allah. (10) There, the believers were tried and
shaken with a mighty shaking. (11) And when the hypocrites and those in
whose hearts is a disease (of doubts) said: "Allah and His Messenger (SAW)
promised us nothing but delusions!" (12)

4. Victory is from Allah SWT

 Put trust in Allah SWT and rely on Him

 Muslims are encouraged to express gratitude to Allah for any victory or success
they achieve, attributing it to His grace and favor

Rasoolullah SAS said: “There is no god but Allah alone, He granted victory to
His troops, supported His slave and defeated the confederates alone, and there
is nothing after Him.” (Agreed Upon)

5. The life of Rasoolullah SAS is declared a role model for all Believers.

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good

example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the
Last Day and remembers Allah much. (21)

 Spiritual connection with Allah SWT

 Guidance in Worship

 Exemplary in Character

 Interactions with others

 Leadership and justice

 Personal sacrifice

 Tarbiyah of the Sahaabah (RA)

 Moderation and balance

6. True Believers faith increase not their fear

 Trust in Allah’s Wisdom

 Surrender to Allah SWT

 Gratitude and contentment

And when the believers saw AlAhzab (the Confederates), they said: "This is
what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had promised us, and
Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had spoken the truth, and it
only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allah). (22)

7. The Truthfulness to the contract with Allah SWT

 "Truthfulness to the contract with Allah" is a concept deeply rooted in Islamic

faith and Deen.

 It refers to the idea that we have a covenant or contract with Allah and are
expected to uphold their commitments and responsibilities as outlined in the
Quran and Islamic teachings.

 This concept encompasses various aspects of a Muslim's life and faith

 We will not flip flop

Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with
Allah [i.e. they have gone out striving, and did not show their backs to the
disbelievers],
of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been
martyred),

and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed
[i.e. they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they
concluded with Allah] in the least. (23)

8. Men and Women have the same spiritual status

 How much women are fighting for their equality

o The birth of feminism

 Equality in Spiritual rights

 Access to worship:

o Both men and women have equal access to acts of worship, such as
prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), reciting the Quran, and supplication
(dua).

o There are no gender-based restrictions on these acts of worship

 Equality in rewards from Allah SWT

Verily, the Muslims men and women, the believers men and women, the men
and the women who are obedient (to Allah), the men and women who are
truthful, the men and the women who are patient, the men and the women
who are humble (before their Lord Allah), the men and the women who give
Sadaqat, the men and the women who observe Saum (fast), the men and the
women who guard their chastity and the men and the women who remember
Allah much with their hearts and tongues Allah has prepared for them
forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). (35)

9. Willful disobedience to Allah SWT and His Messenger is no simple matter

 In Islam, disobedience to Allah and His Messenger is indeed considered a

serious matter.

 Disobedience is viewed as a violation of this fundamental aspect of faith

 The Quran and Hadith emphasize the importance of obedience to Allah's

commands and following the guidance of the Prophet.

 Disobedience to Allah and His Messenger can have both spiritual and moral
consequences

o A grave sin is committed hence repentance

o Think about accountability

o Consequences in this life

and as a lamp spreading light (through your instructions from the Quran and the
Sunnah the legal ways of the Prophet SAW). (46)

No speaking ill of Rasoolullah SAS

the believers in respect of (the marriage of) the wives of their adopted sons
when the latter have no desire to keep them (i.e. they have divorced them).
And Allah's Command must be fulfilled. (37)

Annoying Rasoolullah SAS is strictly and even his wives are protected

undeservedly, bear on themselves the crime of slander and plain sin. (58)

angels too (ask Allah to bless and forgive you), that He may bring you out
from darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of Belief and Islamic
Monotheism). And He is Ever Most Merciful to the believers. (43)

11.Don’t follow the disbelievers and the hypocrites

they cause and rely upon Allah; and Allah suffices as a Trustee. (48)

12.Upright in speech will set our affairs right

 Islam places a strong emphasis on truthfulness in speech.

 The Prophet Muhammad is known as "Al-Amin" or "the Truthful" because of

his impeccable honesty.

 Deliberate lies, false accusations, and spreading rumors are condemned in

Islam.
 Muslims are instructed to avoid falsehood and refrain from spreading rumors
or false information that can harm others

 Islam strictly prohibits backbiting, which is speaking negatively about someone

behind their back, and slander, which involves making false accusations against
someone.

 Such actions are considered sinful and detrimental to social harmony

 Muslims are reminded that they are accountable for their words and actions
on the Day of Judgment. This belief serves as a reminder to speak and act with
integrity and righteousness

from the Hell-fire and made to enter Paradise). (71)

13. The Amaanah (the Shari'ah to be carried out)

 Stewardship and managing the affairs on earth

 Upholding justice

 Fulfilling the Amaanah also includes caring for the well-being of others,
including the less fortunate

afraid of Allah's Torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself)
and ignorant (of its results). (72)
