– Personalized sentence building challenge:
1, Grouping: Groups of 4
2, Timing: 8 minutes
3, Task description
- STEP 1: Each group keeps a small ball. T plays music while the Ss pass the
ball to their teammates. Once the music stops, the person with the ball
says 1 sentence using a non-defining relative clause about a member in the
team.
(e.g. Minh, who is our classmate, comes from Da Nang.)
- STEP 2: The teammates listen and say “OK” if they agree that the
sentence is grammatically correct.
+ If the sentence is grammatically correct, the person with the ball ticks 1
point for that sentence.
+ If not, he/she shouldn’t tick.
- STEP 3: The person with the ball passes the ball to another member who
must choose between 2 options:
+ Option 1: Expands the sentence about the same person (e.g. Minh, who
is our classmate, comes from Da Nang, which is in the middle part of
Vietnam.)
+ Option 2: Says a new sentence using the non-defining relative clause to
talk about a new member (e.g. Lan, who is our classmate, turned 17
yesterday.)
- Ss repeat from STEP 2.
- The activity ends after 10 mins. Ss calculate their total score & note down
in their notebooks so that T can collect data later.
