Direction: Using the GRESA, solve the following given problems about momentum. Answer the guide questions
that follows.
1. An 8-kilogram bowling ball is rolling in a straight line toward you. If its momentum is 16 kg·m/sec, how fast is
it traveling?
2. A beach ball is rolling in a straight line toward you at a speed of 0.5 m/sec. Its momentum is 0.25 kg·m/sec.
What is the mass of the beach ball?
Guide questions:
1. What are the two factors that affect the momentum?

1. Mass and velocity are the factors that affect the momentum of an object.
2. A huge truck that is not moving has more momentum than a small car that is moving.
3. Impulse is the product of force and time.
4. The symbol for momentum is small letter m.
5. Two identical balls with the same mass and velocity have equal momentum.
II. Given the following data, solve for momentum of the given objects.

A bowling ball whose mass is 4.0 kg is rolling at a rate of 2.5 m/s. What is its momentum?
Air bags are used in automobiles because they are able to minimize the effect of the force on an object
involved in a collision. Air bags accomplish this by extending the time required to stop the momentum of the
driver and passenger.
he-follow through is the movement of the body after the shot has been executed. You can think of it like
the swing of a tennis racket after hitting a ball, the swing continues way past the point of contact. The follow-
through is an essential part of recurve technique.
Air bags in cars are designed with impulse, or momentum change principles. When a driver gets into an
accident their momentum carries them forward into the steering wheel. By putting an airbag in the car, a
smaller force is exerted over a longer period of time to change the momentum of the driver to a stop.
