Discussion:
In this experiment, we have learnt the construction and working principle of full
wave bridge rectifier with R and R-L load. First, we have constructed the full wave
rectifier with resistive load and observed input-output voltage curve. In the positive
half cycle (Vs > 0): Diode D1 and D2 are forward biased while Diode D3 and D4 are
reverse biased. So, Diodes D1 and D2 will conduct, the current flows through D1,
resistor, and D2 to return to the negative terminal of the source. If we consider diode
as ideal. In the negative half cycle (Vs < 0): Diodes D1 and D2 are reverse biased,
diodes D3 and D4 are forward biased. So, diodes D3 and D4 conduct, they act as a
close switch and conduct current. And then we have added inductive load and
observed the parameters again by increasing load value until we get our desired
output curve. The more inductive load is increased the output dc current becomes
purer. There is a lot of application of Full wave rectifier. It is used in construction of
constant dc voltage power supplies. A bridge rectifier with an efficient filter is ideal
for any type of general power supply applications like charging a battery, powering a
dc device etc.
