LÝ THUYẾT NGỮ PHÁP

Thì quá khứ đơn được dùng để nói về các hành động được hoàn tất đã xảy ra trong quá khứ. Trong phạm vi
bài này, ta sẽ tìm hiểu về các cấu trúc của thì quá khứ đơn.

A. Dấu hiệu nhận biết

Thì quá khứ đơn có rất nhiều dấu hiệu nhận biết. Dưới đây là một số dấu hiệu cơ bản ta sẽ tìm hiểu trong
phạm vi bài này.

Chú ý: “last” trong dấu hiệu trên được hiểu chính xác là “vừa qua” hoặc “gần đây nhất”, còn “ago” được
hiểu chính xác là “trước thời điểm hiện tại”.

B. Động từ ở thì quá khứ đơn

Khi dùng thì quá khứ đơn, ta phải chia động từ ở dạng tương ứng. Với hầu hết các động từ, ta chỉ cần thêm
hậu tố “-ed” vào đằng sau. Ta gọi đây là các động từ có quy tắc.
Một số ví dụ:

increase ➔ increased clean ➔ cleaned arrange ➔ arranged cook ➔ cooked

Tuy nhiên, với một số lượng động từ khác, ta phải biến đổi chúng theo cách đặc biệt. Ta gọi đây là các động
từ bất quy tắc. (Xem cuối Paper 15 để tham khảo bảng đầy đủ động từ bất quy tắc)
Một số ví dụ:

C. Cấu trúc sử dụng

Cấu trúc của thì quá khứ đơn khá giống với của thì hiện tại đơn, ngoại trừ phần chia động từ.

D. Quy tắc chính tả của động từ quá khứ có quy tắc

Để biến đổi động từ nguyên thể thành động từ quá khứ đơn, ta đơn thuần chỉ thêm hậu tố “-ed”. Tuy nhiên,
một số động từ có chính tả biến đổi khác thông thường. Nhìn chung giống quy tắc thêm “-s/-es” đã học.

E. Quy tắc phát âm cho động từ quá khứ đơn có quy tắc
