Sub: Technical specification with cost and time estimate of Cold repair of

battery 6A through CET

Presently COB, DSP is operating with 4 battery operation, e.g COB#2,3,4 and 6.
COB#1 is under hot repair and expected to be commissioned during NOV'14.
COB#4 is currently the oldest one and is planned for rebuilding after closing it
down in DEC'2014.

Presently COB#5A is under rebuilding and COB #5B is under new construction.
Expected date of commissioning is June'2015. Complete battery history since
inception and subsequent repair /rebuilding is given in Annexure-I and battery
repair plan in Aneexure -II.

Batt #6 was last hot repaired and started on 01.03.2005. Since then systematic
repair and mechanical structural jobs were undertaken from time to time, but
overall health of oven wall , oven top equipments etc are not in good shape. In
view of above, it has been decided that COB #6A will be closed down for repair
from July 2015 when COB #5 is expected to be commissioned.

The commissioning date of COB#6 is 26.07.1993 and has given only 21 yrs life
so far. In order to extend the life substantially for another 15 yrs, it is thought ,
after detail deliberation, that this time all the walls will be cold repaired for all
28 flues along with all mechanical items like Buckstays, flash plate, door frames
and also oven top equipments like G.C.Main with all accessories, A.P, Goose
neck, valve boxes etc.

Since full wall replacement, oven sole, regenerators etc along with all
mechanical components have not been undertaken so far during cold repair,
detail technical support in terms of preparing scope, indicating also duration
and cost estimation will be required.
In view of above, we may request CET to prepare detail scope of work, cost
estimation, duration etc in addition and likely resource requirement.

ED (W) may kindly agree to request CET to take up the job and submit a report
early so that we may go ahead with the planning and execution as planned in
JUly'2015.
