Question -3 (50 points)
Answer the following questions for the steam boiler shown in the figure.
a) Write the mass, energy, exergy and entropy balances for the steam boiler.
b) Calculate the exergy of each stream (Kinetic and potential effects are
neglected)
c) Calculate the energy efficiency and exergy efficiency for the steam boiler.
d) Calculate the exergetic cost of the steam obtained in the steam boiler.
(Accept the cost of the boiler as $ 800,000, its economic life as 15 years
and the annual working hours as 7500 hours. For the costs of fuel currents,
you can consider the the unit exergy cost of fuel streams as the unit exergy
cost of natural gas)
