1 Body Parts of Animals

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the body parts of some animals; and
2. Classify animals according to body
parts, movement, food-getting structures and
habitat.

 Animals have their own body parts.


 Some animals have common body parts such as
eyes, ears, nose, mouth and legs. Some animals
have body parts not common to all. Examples are:
- horn of the carabao, cow, goat and deer
- Webbed-feet for duck, frog and bird
- fins of the fishes
- hoofed feet of the carabao, pig and cow
- trunk-nose of the elephant

Webbed-feet

 There are different kinds of animals. Each kind


has similarities.

 These animals are of the same kind. They have


hair and legs, and they feed their young with
milk. They are called mammals.

 These animals have wings. Their bodies are
covered with feathers. Most of them can fly. They
have beaks for getting food. Their feet have claws.
They are called birds.

 These animals live in water. They are called


cold- blooded animals. Their bodies are covered
with scales. They have fins. They have gills for
breathing. They are called fishes.

 These have six legs. Most of them are small and


have wings. They are called insects.

 These animals are called reptiles. Most of
these animals crawl. They have scales on their
bodies.

 Each kind of animals is different from the others.


 Animals live in different ways. Some animals live
on land. They use their legs to move on land.
Some animals live in water. Some uses their fins
and tails to move in the water. Some also uses
their legs to move in the water.
