I. Evaluating learning Complete the sentence:
1. ______ is an equipment very important to draw irrigation water from a source such as deep well, rivers and lakes. In some areas
where water is scarce second cropping of rice could be done using a water pump._____2. are sprinklers providing (irrigation) to
agriculture, crops, vegetation, or for recreation, as a cooling system, or for the control of airborne dust and landscaping. The
sprinkler system irrigates the field and thus it is widely used in sandy areas as it checks the wastage of water through seepage and
evaporation.

PVC pipe is available in a variety of diameters and wall thickness'. Your system will operate better and be more durable using a
larger diameter (3/4", 1", or 1 1/4"), heavier gauge (schedule 40) pipe. Poly pipe is mostly used in colder climates. Poly pipe is
more flexible and is less likely to be damaged by freezing. Rain Bird does not recommend using poly pipe for the main line
connecting pipe. http://www.rainbird.com/homeowner/education/installationguide.htm

that:
the downstream river discharge is reduced
the evaporation in the scheme is increased
the groundwater recharge in the scheme is increased
the level of the water table rises
the drainage flow is increased

1. Inspect after significant storm events and at least annually to identify repair and maintenance needs. 2. Follow your
irrigation water management plan. 3. Promptly repair or replace damaged or inoperable components. 4. Periodically check and
remove debris and sediment as necessary from nozzles to assure proper operation. 5. Inspect or test all pipeline and pumping
plant components and appurtenances, as applicable. 6. Regularly test pressures and flow rates to assure proper operation. 7.
Periodically check all nozzles and spray heads for proper operation and wear. 8. Perform routine maintenance of all mechanical
components in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. 9. Prior to retrofitting any electrically powered irrigation
equipment, electrical service must be disconnected and the absence of stray electrical current verified. 10. Maintain records 11.
