Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Select Measuring Instruments.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while being an active
learner.
What I Need to Know This will give you an idea of the skills or
competencies you are expected to learn in
the module.
ii
What I Can Do This section provides an activity that will help
you transfer your new knowledge or skill in
real-life situations or concerns.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate

What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to
help you to Select Measuring Instruments in the field of Technical Drafting.
The scope of this module permits it to be used in many different learning
situations. The language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of
students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence of the
course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to correspond
with the textbook you are now using.

LO 1 - Select Measuring Instruments
What’s In
In the last lesson, you have learned about how to maintain hand tools,
drawing instruments, equipment, and paraphernalia. You have done also the
different tasks given to you. This time you will be familiarized with the
different and proper selection of measuring instruments best suited for your
works or jobs.
What’s New
2. Triangles are used for drawing vertical and oblique lines. They are
usually made of celluloid or plastic and come in various sizes. The
most commonly used triangles are the 45 and the 30 x 60 .
Illustrations below show the proper use of drawing lines and
measuring angles using the T-square and triangle.

3. Ruler is the most popular type of measuring tool. It is usually 6 or 12
inches in length. It is needed for measuring sizes and distances.

The figure below can be measured and drawn using a protractor.
COMPASS

8. A Divider is similar to the compass in construction. As the name
implies, a divider is used for dividing distances into several/many
equal parts by the trial-and-error method.
DIVIDERS
Tools will last longer when properly kept and maintained. A good
worker or draftsman keeps and takes care of these tools. The following are
some pointers:

What’s More
Now that you are already familiar with the different measuring
instruments best suited for your works or jobs, you can now perform the given
activity below.
Activity 1: Who am I!
Directions: Tell whether the things shown below are measuring instruments
or not. Write M if it is a measuring instrument and NM if it is not. Write your
