1. KHÁI NIỆM VỀ CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN


Câu điều kiện (conditional sentences) là loại câu dùng để diễn tả giả thiết về một sự việc mà nó chỉ
có thể xảy ra khi điều kiện được nói đến xảy ra. Hay nói cách khác, câu điều kiện là câu "Nếu...
thì..."
VD: If the weather is nice, I will go to Ha Long next week. (Nếu thời tiết đẹp, tôi sẽ đi Hạ Long vào
tuần sau.)
=> Như vậy, việc tôi sẽ đi Hạ Long vào tuần sau chỉ xảy ra khi thời tiết đẹp.

2. CẤU TRÚC CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN

Cấu trúc ngữ pháp của câu điều kiện trong tiếng Anh sẽ bao gồm 2 phần là: mệnh đề chính và
mệnh đề điều kiện. Mệnh đề điều kiện (vế nếu) thường nêu lên giả thiết và bắt đầu với "If" còn
mệnh đề chính (vế thì) là kết quả khi giả thiết đó xảy ra.
VD: If I tired, I will stay at home.

Hay: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.

Vị trí của hai mệnh đề không cố định, nội dung và ngữ pháp của câu không thay đổi khi thay đổi vị
trí của mệnh đề. Tuy nhiên, nếu mệnh đề điều kiện đứng trước, bắt buộc đằng sau nó phải có dấu
phẩy để ngăn cách giữa hai mệnh đềtrong câu, còn khi mệnh đề chính đứng trước thì không cần
dấu phẩy.
