DEBATE
ARGUMENTATION
The process of presenting and defending arguments or claims

based on logical reasoning and evidence.

Involves constructing persuasive arguments to support a

particular viewpoint or position.

Focuses on presenting logical and coherent reasoning to convince

others of the validity of one's perspective.

Can be used in various contexts, including discussions,

presentations, and written essays.

DEBATE
A structured discussion or competition where participants
present arguments and counterarguments on a specific
topic.
Involves two or more individuals or teams taking opposing
sides of an issue.
Follows a set of rules and formats, such as time limits,
rebuttals, and cross-examinations.
Emphasizes critical thinking, public speaking skills, and the
ability to challenge and defend ideas effectively.
Often judged based on the strength of arguments,
evidence, delivery, and persuasion.
DIFFEERENCES Debates are formal all the time. In comparison to the argument, it’s an
unaltered fact. They are held in the form of a verbal contest between
two or more individuals.

Arguments are not regulated by any rules and have no consensus,

while debates have strict requirements — both sides must be heard
and try their best to provide the best evidence.

The character of these words is also different. Arguments are more

persuasive; the speaker wants to make his opponent follow his
opinions and make him adhere. Debate, on the other hand, is used as
a formal discussion, as a verb, and only for the scope.
