SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 5

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 50-minutes lesson about female reproductive system, 80% of
the students will be able to:
A. describe the functions of different parts of the female reproductive system;
B. practice proper way to take care of the reproductive organs; and
C. identify the parts of the female reproductive system through drawing and
labelling.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Female Reproductive System

2. Presentation and Discussion

(The teacher will start discussing the lesson)
 Show the picture of a female reproductive system.
The Female Reproductive System consist of Ovary, Fallopian tube, Uterus,
Vagina and Cervix.

 Discuss the parts of the female reproductive system and its functions
and the proper way to take care the reproductive organs.

1. OVARY
The ovaries are small, oval- shaped glands that are located on either side of
the uterus. The ovaries produce eggs and hormones.
2. FALLOPIAN TUBE
These are narrow tubes that are attached to the upper part of the uterus and
serve as pathways of the ova (egg cells) to travel from the ovaries to the
uterus. Fertilization of an egg by a sperm normally occurs in the fallopian
tubes.
There are two fallopian tubes, called the uterine tubes or the oviducts.
3. UTERUS
The uterus is also called the womb. It is a muscular bag with a soft lining. The
uterus is where a baby develops until its birth. The uterus is only about three
inches long and two inches wide, but during pregnancy it changes rapidly and
dramatically.
4. VAGINA
The vagina is a canal that joins the cervix (the lower parts of uterus) to the
outside of the body. It is also known as the birth canal.
5. CERVIX
The cervix is a ring of muscle at the lower end of the uterus. It keeps the baby
in place while the woman is pregnant. During menstruation, the cervix
stretches open slightly to allow the endometrium to be shed. This stretching is
believed to be the cramping pain that many women experience.

Females in puberty experience menstruation every month. Thus, girls need to

make sure that their reproductive system is always clean.

Ways on How to Take Care the Female Reproductive Organs

1. Always wash your external reproductive organs with mild soap and water
regularly.
2. Do not borrow underwear from anybody.
3. Always wear clean underwear and change it daily.
4. Wear sanitary napkin whenever needed.
5. If you experience pain on your reproductive organ, seek medical and advice
immediately.

3. Application

The class will be divided into two groups. The teacher will supervise the
students in doing the activity. The group will select a representatives who will
be going to report the answers of their group.

Group 1.

Enumerate the parts of the female reproductive system and describe its parts
in your own words.

Group 2.

List down other ways on how to keep the reproductive system healthy.

4. Generalization

(Lead the students to generalize the lesson by asking questions.)

(HIGHER-ORDER THINKING SKILLS OR HOTS)

1. Why is the female reproductive system important?

2. Which part can be considered as the most important part of the female
reproductive system? Why?
3. What is the importance of taking care of our reproductive organs?
IV. EVALUATION
Test I. Matching Type
Direction: Identify the function of each parts of the female reproductive system
connecting the lines from Column A to the correct answer in Column B. Write
your answer in your paper.
COLUMN A COLUMN B

1. Ovary Lead the egg to the

uterus.

2. Uterus
Also known as birth
canal that expands to
let the baby pass during
normal delivery.

3. Fallopian tube Produces egg cells as

well as female sex
hormones.

4. Cervix Also known as the

‘womb’ that
accumulates blood
nutrients to
accommodate the
unborn baby as it
develops.

5. Vagina Located at the lower

part of the uterus that
expands to allow the
passage of the baby.

Test II. True or False

Direction: Write T on the line if you think the given statement is TRUE and
write F if the statement is FALSE.
________1. The female reproductive system consists of Ovaries, Vagina,
Uterus, Cervix and Fallopian tube.

________2. The process of an egg and sperm joining together is called

Reproduction.

________3. The ovary produces egg cells as female sex hormones.

________4. Females have one fallopian tube.

________5. Female humans have two ovaries.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Direction: Draw and label the female reproductive system. Color your drawing to
make it creative, and place it on a long piece of bond paper.
