PARTS OF SPEECH
All English words can be identified as one of the eight parts of speech: noun,
pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, or interjection.
A noun names any one of a class of people, places, things, or ideas. Nouns come
in two forms. Concrete nouns name items that can be experienced through one or
more of the five senses, such as a tree or a cloud. Abstract nouns, on the other
hand, refer to ideas that have no material substance, such as goodness or fear.
