1. GREETINGS
- Begin with daily classroom greetings. Introduce yourself to the students.
Have the students introduce themselves to the class by saying their
names. Encourage the students to say hello after each introduction.
- Display the alphabet and ask students if they know what it is. Tell students SB pp. 6―7
that they’re going to learn about the alphabet. DVD-ROM or

2. SONGS FOR THE ALPHABET MP3 CD
- Preview the alphabet for the students by showing them “The Phonics
Song” animation on the DVD-ROM. Then play the audio and encourage
students to sing along while they point to the letters in their books.
- Have students listen to “The Alphabet Song.” Play the audio again and ask
students to sing along.

& Practice 1 A. Listen, Repeat, and Trace Teacher’s
- Introduce the target sounds to the students by asking them what letters flashcards
they see in their books. Tell them that they will be learning the sounds 01―02
DVD-ROM or
of “Aa,” “Bb,” and “Cc.”

- Use the DVD-ROM to show students the animation on Student Book p. 8.
Show them the animation again and ask them to follow along by tracing
the letters in the air.
- Have students listen to Track 05 while they follow along in their books.
Ask them to repeat the sounds of the letters after the audio. Tell
students that the pointing finger marks the spot where they should
begin their first stroke.
- Help students to trace the letters with their fingers. Use the teacher’s
flash-cards to model the correct tracing pattern for any students having
difficulties.
2. PRACTICE 1
A. Trace and Say
- Have students trace the example letters with their pencils. Encourage
them to count each stroke aloud. When they are finished, have them
trace the second row of letters. Remind them to start their first stroke

A. Greetings

“The Alphabet Song” to get the students excited for the lesson.

- Begin by reviewing the target words from the previous lesson. Use the
teacher’s flashcards to help students recall the words that they learned.
Show them each picture and ask them to identify it. Gently remind them
of any words they have forgotten. Ask them to identify the beginning
sounds of each word.
- Have the students use their student flashcards to continue reviewing with
a partner.
- Have the students listen to Track 08 while completing the activity at the
top of Student Book p. 11. Students should circle the “O” if the words
have the same beginning sound and the “X” if the words have different SB pp. 11―12

B. Listen, Number, and Write
- Play Track 10 while the students complete the practice activity. Students
should write the correct number next to the picture of the word they
hear. Then ask them to write the letter that each word starts with.
Remind them to write both the capital and lowercase forms of each
letter.
- Display the correct answers with the DVD-ROM.
1. ACTIVITY
A. Mole Game
- Have students point to each mole and say the sound of the letter they see.
Then have them point to each picture and say the correct word. If a
mole has a letter that corresponds to the picture next to it, students SB p. 13
should circle the mole. If the letter and picture do not match, students DVD-ROM or
Fun Activity 13 mins.

- As a class, play the DVD-ROM game on Student Book p. 13.

1. WRAP-UP
A. Review
- Brainstorm other words that start with the target sounds and letters and
write them on the board so that students can visually see the letter that
is making the beginning sound. For example, if a student suggests the
Homework word “cookie,” write it on the board and ask students what beginning WB pp. 6―7
Assignment & letter they see. Try drawing pictures of the words to assist students who DVD-ROM or 7 mins.

B. Assign homework
- Assign homework in the Workbook.
- Remind students that they can review what they learned at home with
their DVD-ROMs.
