DISCUSSION QUESTIONS AND TASKS FOR FAMILY WEEK 2023

DAY 1: GOD’S PLAN FOR LOVE AND RESPECT IN MARRIAGE

Questions

 What are the reasons for the absence of love and respect between couples in marriage?
 In cases of abusive relationships or in situations where a spouse is irresponsible, how
should a couple maintains love and respect in their marriage?

Task: Do something concrete today to show your spouse that you love and respect him or her.

DAY 2: MARITAL COMMUNICATION, FORGIVENESS, AND CONFLICT


RESOLUTION

Questions

 With the distractions caused by technology and social media, how can a couple find time
and space for meaningful communication in their marriage?
 How can couples manage disagreements and ensure that conflicts are amicably resolved
in their home?
 To what extent should a third party be involved in marital conflicts?

Task: Open up and discuss about any offence you are still holding against your spouse.

DAY 3: SEXUAL INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE

Questions

 What are the common challenges relating to sexual intimacy in marriage? (Case studies)
 How can couples communicate openly about their sexual needs and desires, and how can
conflicts relating to sexual intimacy be resolved?
Task: Have a honest and free discussion on your sexual needs, preferences, and boundaries with
your spouse and ensure that both of you feel heard and understood.

DAY 4: MARRIAGE AS A VOCATION TO HOLINESS AND FAMILY ENRICHMENT

Questions

 What strategies can couples employ to nurture the spiritual growth of their children and
involve them in family enrichment?
 How can couples balance their responsibilities to their own nuclear family with
obligations to extended family members?

Task: Visit another family that is distant from the Church or that is in crisis. Share the word of
God together and pray together. Share material gifts with them as well.

DAY 5: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN CATHOLIC HOMES

Questions

 What are some of the warning signs of domestic violence, and how can couples recognize
and address them in the context of their faith?
 What role does open and honest communications play in preventing domestic violence
within Catholic marriages?
 What can a spouse do if he/she is experiencing domestic violence in the home?

Task: Establish a firm resolution and mutual agreement with your spouse, pledging never to
tolerate or engage in any form of violence in the marriage.
