Narrative Report on Orientation and 1st Day of Catch Up Fridays


I. INTRODUCTIONPursuant to DepEd Order No. 001 Series of 2024, Catch Up Fridays commenced
on January 12, 2024,with an orientation session followed by the inaugural day of activities.
The program aims to provide additionalsupport and learning opportunities for students who may
have encountered challenges during the previousacademic year, ensuring that they are equipped
with the necessary skills to succeed. Similarly, to bolster the basic education priorities articulated
in the MATATAG Agenda andaccelerate the achievement of education targets as stipulated in
DepEd Order (DO) No. 013, s. 2023 titledAdoption of the National Learning Recovery Program
(NLRP), there is a need to intensify Values, Health, andPeace Education. Values Education remains
a priority in compliance with Republic Act (RA) No. 11476, GoodManners and Right Conduct
(GMRC) and Values Education Act, which recognizes the vital role of the youth innation-building.
The urgency for Peace Education is a prompt response to the 2022 Program for
InternationalStudent Assessment (PISA) results which reveal that bullying remains a pervasive
problem in public schoolsand the need for Filipino learners as global citizens to acquire and
strengthen peace competencies allowingthem to become peace builders and advocates in their
respective communities, while Health Educationdemands stronger advocacy to ensure the
overall health and well-being of learners.II. ORIENTATION SESSIONThe day began with
a comprehensive orientation session, gathering students, parents, and educators inthe school.
The school principal, Maam Marites F. Manigbas, welcomed everyone and emphasized
thesignificance of Catch Up Fridays in addressing academic gaps and fostering a positive learning
environment.During the orientation, the objectives, schedules, and activities planned for Catch
Up Fridays wereelucidated. Parents were briefed on the curriculum, teaching methodologies, and
the expected outcomes fortheir children. Teachers discussed individualized learning plans tailored
to each student's needs and providedresources to support home-based learning.III. FIRST DAY
ACTIVITIESFollowing the orientation, the students proceeded to their respective classrooms for
the commencementof the first Catch Up Fridays session beginning this 12
th
day of January 2024. The atmosphere was filled withenthusiasm as educators implemented
engaging activities designed to assess the students' current academicstanding and identify areas
that require further attention.Teachers utilized various instructional strategies, including
interactive discussions, group activities, andone-on-one consultations to cater to diverse
learning styles. Diagnostic assessments were administered to gaugethe students' proficiency
levels in key subjects.

I. ORIENTATION SESSION

Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 001 Series of 2024, Catch Up Fridays commenced on January 12,
2024,with an orientation session with the pupils and parents. It aims to provide additional support and
learning opportunities for students who may have encountered challenges during the previous academic
year, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed. The teacher discussed
individualized learning plans tailored to each pupil's needs and provided resources to support home-based
learning.In line with the MATATAG:Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa agenda in accordance with the
continuous commitment of the Department of Education towards the improvement of literacy and the
promotion of life long learning, GPES had a Catch-Up Friday and the Project DEAR (Drop Everything and
Read) as part of it. This said activity enhanced the critical and thinking skills of students as well as our
reading skills.

II. . FIRST DAY ACTIVITIES

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as educators implemented engaging activities
designed to assess the pupils' current academic standing and identify areas that require further
attention.Teacher utilized various instructional strategies, including interactive discussions, group activities,
and one-on-one consultations to cater to diverse learning styles. Diagnostic assessments were administered
to gauge the students' proficiency levels in key subjects.And the pupils had their activity in connection with
the PROJECT DEAR through the activity, a Linear Text a Flash Fiction where use to guide the students on
the in-depth analysis of the story. For Grade 6 pupils, they read the literary piece. I facilitated this activity to
my advisee, Grade 6-Thessalonians. In the activity, first, I read the Story then the students read it aloud.
After reading, the students do the unlocking of difficulties and they list those vocabulary words then they
give their synonyms and think-pair share to collaborate and interpret the message of each paragraph in the
story. After sharing, the pupils were given time to write their analysis and the lesson learned in the story .
