RATIO AND PROPORTION
A ratio is a comparison between two numbers or quantities.
A proportion is an equation that shows two ratios are equivalent.
EXAMPLE:
The ratio of male to female students of Bagong Silangan High School
as of March 2023 can be expressed in different forms:
2,985 ∶ 2,787 (colon form)
2,985 ÷ 2,787 (division form)
2,985
(fraction form)
2,787
2,985 ¿ 2,787(phase form)
The equation 2,985 ∶ 2,787 = 5,970 ∶ 5,574 is a proportion.
In the given proportion, 2787 and 5970 are called means; 2985 and
5574 are called extremes.

4. 13:5, supplementary angles are two angles that have a sum equal
to 180 °
13 x+ 5 x=180
By APE, 18 x=180
By MPE, x=10
Therefore, 13 x=13 ( 10 )=130 ° and 5 x=5 ( 10 )=50 °

5. 1:2, complementary angles are two angles that have a sum equal
to 90 °
x +2 x =90
By APE, 3 x=90
By MPE, x=30
Therefore, x=30 ° and 2 x=2 ( 30 )=60°
