INTRODUCTION
This report contains the analyses and design details of the WC Building. Building is a single storey steel
structure. Plan dimensions of the structure are 3.80m x 4.40m. The structural heights of the frames are 3.30m
at the edge and 3.00m at the ridge of the roof. There are two primary axes parallel to the long direction and two
primary axes parallel to the short direction.
Gravity and lateral force resisting system of the building is inverted pendulum in both direction. Horizontal
braces are tension only rod. Beam to column connctions are simple connections and column base are fixed.
Typical columns section is HEB240 – S235JR and typical beam section is IPE160 – S235JR.
Foundations consist from the rectangular footings (2.00mx2.00m) supporting the cantilever columns. The
depth of the foundation bottom level is 1.4m and typical foundation thickness is 400mm. Steel columns are
supported by pedestals which has 500mmx500mm section dimensions and 500mm height on the foundation.
Concrete compressive strength of the foundation is 25MPa. 3D views of the model can be seen from the
following figures.

1.5 Modelling Principles
Structural models have been built and run by considering the assumptions below;
Under seismic excitation, braces of the steel upper structure model have been treated as tension only
members as in defined in the EN 1998-1.
Beam-column connections have been designed as pin connections.
Based on the single storey structure limitations, no strong column weak beam check has been
considered.
Columns of main frames have been fully fixed to the foundation.
