INTRODUCTION
This report contains the analysis and design details of “Waste Water Treatment Unit” which is about a pit
having 10.40 m. depth, 3.0x3.0 m. net plan dimensions to serve as a balance tank of 27 m3 and a slab on grade
having net plan dimensions 6.29X3.60 m. to support the “Waste Water Treatment Unit Equipments” .
There are two openings at the level of ground which is given as +1913.380. A typical ladder is placed at one
of those openings down to the bottom level which is given as +1903.780.
Wastewater inlet having a diameter of 400 mm. is placed at the level so that a 27 m3 water can be stored
inside the pit .
The cover for the openings are designed by chequered plates and supporting members so that they will be
capable to resist a live load of 20 kN/m2.
The design is done according to the assumption that the level of backfilling around the pit will be done by
taking into consideration that the level of backfilling at each face will be not more than 2 meter different in height
than the other face to not to result an unfavourable loading case.
