very carefully.

The wedding of the mouse

There was a beautiful hermitage on the
bank of river Ganges. Where group of
hermits lived in peace.
The hermits were disciples of a Guru,
Yadnyavalka, who was always absorbed
in meditation, and followed rigorous self-
discipline.
One day, while he was bathing in the
river, a hawk flew over with a mouse in
its claws. Suddenly, the mouse fell from
the hawk’s grip right into the hands of
the guru.
When guru noticed that the hawk was
flying above, he knew he cannot leave
the mouse alone. Or he is to be caught
again. He put the mouse on a leaf of a
nearby tree, and took a second bath to
purify himself. He used his powers to
transform the female mouse into a little
girl and took her to the hermitage.
 Based from the story, what do you
think will happen next? Will the Guru
take care of the mouse? Or he will let  Ma’am we think that the

He said to his wife “my dear, please

accept her as our blessing, as we do not
have a child of our own”
 Okay, so the Guru took care of the
girl, he introduced the girl to his wife.
Okay, so we will continue the story.
Thus, the girl started growing in the
hermitage, under the care and
supervision of the Guru himself. She
learnt many sciences, and ways of life.
One day, the Guru’s wife brought into his
notice that their girl had reached the
marriageable age. They decided to give
it a serious thought, as she was a
special and deserved a special husband.
The next morning, using his powers,
guru summoned the Sun God to marry
her daughter if she chooses so.
 What do you think will happen next?
Will the girl accept the Sun God?  Ma’am, we think that

But the daughter said, “father the sun
lights up the entire world, but he is
unbearably hot and fiery tempered. I do
not wish to marry him. Please seek a
better husband for me.”

 So, the girl didn’t accept the Sun God

because he is hot and fiery.

The Guru wondered, “who might be

better than even the Sun God?”
The sun God advised to seek an alliance
of the King of Clouds. He is superior to
me, for he can cover me and my light”.
So the Guru using his powers, summon
the King of Clouds and said. “Please
accept my daughter’s hand if she
chooses so”.

 So, what di you think will happen

next? Will the girl accepts the King of
clouds? Let’s hear it from the group

the girl will accept the

But the daughter said, “father the king of

clouds is dark, wet and too cold. I do not
wish to marry him. Please seek a better
husband for me.”

 So, the girl didn’t accept the King of

Clouds. Okay, let’s continue.
The Guru wondered, “who might be
better than even the King of Clouds?”
The king of the clouds advised, “Guruji,
you can seek the alliance of the Lord of
winds. He can blow me away.” So the
Guru summoned the Lord of winds, and
said, “please accept my daughter’s
hand. I wish you to marry her, if she
chooses so.”
 What do you think will happen next?

 Okay let’s see if the girl accepts the
King Cloud.
But the daughter said that the Lord of
Winds is too fast and restless. He keeps
changing the direction, and didn’t wish
to marry him.

 So, the girl did not accept the King of

cloud because the win is too fast.
Okay, let’s continue.
The Guru wondered again who might be
better than the Lord of Winds. The Lord
of wind advises to seek alliance from
the Lord of Mountains. For the Lord of
mountains can stop the wind from
blowing.
So the Guru, using his powers,
summoned the Lord of the mountains.
“Please accept my daughter’s hand. I
wish you to marry her, if he chooses so”
 What do you think might happen
next? Do you think that this time the
girl will accept the mountain?

But the daughter said, “father, the Lord

of Mountains is too hard and rigid, he is  No Ma’am/ Yes Ma’am
immovable. I don not want to marry him.
Please seek a better husband for me.”

 But then again, the girl didn’t accept

the Mountains. Okay, Let’s go back to
the story.

So the the Guru again wondered who

might be better than the Lord of
Mountains.
The Lord of Mountains advised, “you can
seek alliance from the king of Mice. He is
superior to me for he can make holes all
over me.”
So, the Guru summoned the king of mice
and said, “please accept my daughter’s
hand, I wish you to marry her if she
chooses so.”
 Do you think the girl will accept the
king of Mice?
 Okay, so let’s see.

When the girl met the king of Mice, she was

delighted and shyly agreed to the marriage.

the last part of the story.

The Guru transformed her daughter into

a beautiful female mouse, for her to
perform all the duties of her clan. Thus,
Guru’s daughter was married.
 In the end Guru transformed the girl
into a mouse to serve his husband
well as a mouse. Okay, let’s give a
round of applause for all the groups
who participated to the listening
activity.

 We arrived on our
answers based on
what happened before,
we looked for clues so
 So class, how did you come up with
that we can guess what
your guesses earlier? will happen next.

 Very good, so what you did earlier is

called predicting outcomes.
Predicting outcomes is guessing
what will happen next after a certain
event has occurred. As what you did
a while ago, you searched for clues.  Yes, Ma’am
 So now, I will play a quick game. I
am going to act a scenario and I will
provide clues and you will make
predictions about what will happen
next. Is it clear?
(the teacher will act and collect the
students answers that will be made
as an example to better understand
the topic)
 Okay! What you did a while ago is  Yes Ma’am
an example of predicting outcomes.
You are guessing or predicting
things based from the evidences or
clues that you have collected.
 Sometimes it can happen that you
might have different guesses or
predictions because clues can be
interpreted in different way. But in
making predictions, it can help you
to make decision based from the
clues that you have gathered.
 Do you understand class?

F. Application  So now, let’s have an activity.

 With the same group, I will give
you different task. Kindly select
one representative to pick your (representative picks their
task.
 All you have to do is to do your tasks)
task written in the paper, I will
give scenarios and you will predict
what will happen next and take
note that you will be graded
according to the criteria given.
 Is it clear?  Yes Ma’am
Tasks:
1. You will predict the outcome
of the scenario “Brandon and
Ren decided to go fishing.
They caught almost 5 kilos of
fish. They put the fishes in the
pail”. You will present it by
writing down 3 possible events
that tells what the boys will do
next. Write your answers
inside the fish.

2.
You will predict the outcome of the
scenario “a group of student is
crossing along the street.
Suddenly, a car comes so
fast.” You will present it by
drawing a comic strip.
3. You will predict the outcome of
the scenario “all the children
get on the bus with their
teachers. Everyone is excited
as they boarded the bus. They
had been waiting for this day
all year”. You will present it
through role playing (Sad
Tone).
4. You will predict the outcome
with a scenario “The students
are very noisy and crowded,
others are playing and
throwing papers with their
classmates suddenly their
teacher enters the classroom”.
You will present it through
Role Playing (Happy Tone).
G. Valuing  As you listen to the story, you are  It is important

you can help you in arriving right

H. Evaluation Direction: in a ½ sheet of paper, explain
how you can predict outcomes in two-
three sentences and then you need to
predict what will happen next in the
following situations.
1. Mark wakes up excited and
happy. The sun is shining. It is a
perfect day for a trip to a beach.
After a few seconds, what do you
think will Mark do next?
2. Marie is getting herself some
soda. She begins to pour the

floor. Marie knows her mom will
not be happy if she sees the
mess. What do you think Marie
will do next?
I. Assignment Direction: Listen to the song “You are
the reason” by Calum Scott. Tell the
meaning of the song. And after that
make a prediction about what you think
will happen next in the song. Write your
answer in a ½ sheet of paper.
