NARRATIVE REPORT

On February 7, 2024, Baranggay New Maug hosted a transformative event aimed at raising
awareness about drug abuse and prevention among students. The symposium was organized by the
Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and targeted students from Grades 4, 5, 6, and high school student . The
main objectives of the symposium were to impart knowledge, foster awareness, and create a safe and
drug-free environment within the school.

The symposium started at 2:00 pm in the New Maug Elementary School Gymnasium, which
was filled with eager students. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the students eagerly
awaited the start of the event. The symposium began with a warm welcome from the school principal,
Mr. Floro G. Alvar, and the participation of 147 students, including 20 teachers. They emphasized the
importance of drug awareness and prevention in their young lives.The guest speaker from the PDEA
shared alarming statistics about drug abuse among young people, illustrating its devastating
consequences on both individual and community levels. The speaker provided valuable information on
resisting peer pressure, making informed decisions, and building a strong support system. Students
were encouraged to seek help from trusted adults, such as teachers, parents, or school counselors, if
they faced challenges involving drugs.

The Drug Awareness and Prevention Symposium at New Maug was a resounding success. The
event achieved its objectives of educating students about the dangers of drug abuse, fostering
awareness, and instilling a sense of responsibility within the school community. The symposium served
as a crucial step towards creating a safe and drug-free environment for all students. By empowering
them with knowledge and providing them with the necessary tools, New Maug took a proactive
approach in combating drug abuse among its student body.
