C. Motivation
“Guess Me”
Call 1 pupil in each row to act out the objects inside the box. Let learners guess the object.
Let them identify if it produces heat or not.
What are the different objects in the box that produce heat? Does only only metal objects transfer
heat? Why?
D. Unlocking of Difficulties
Arrange the scrambled letters according to their meaning to form the right word.
EXPLORE
1. Group pupils into three (3)
2. Discuss the mechanics and the safety measures in handling the materials.
3. Discuss the rubrics in doing a group activity.
Group 1
“Draw and Tell”
1. Infer how heat travelled on the set ups by drawing arrows where heat is flowing.
2. Which melt first? Why does it melt first?
Group 2
“Do and Sing”
1. Which margarine melts last? Why does it melt last?
2. Based on the activity, how does heat travel?
Group 3
“Chant”
1. Infer how heat travelled on the three set up. Which butter melt first? Why does it melt first?
2. How does heat travel in solid materials?
EXPLAIN (Discuss the concept with pupils interaction)
1. Allow them to share their answer and the result of the different activities.
2. Give additional input about the topic
In activity given, transfer of heat through a substance by a direct contact same with the spoon being
placed in hot water. When particles is moving faster, there is more energy and the temperature is higher.
However, the exposed end of the spoon is much hotter than the outside surface of the mug because
spoon is an example of conductor, which allow heat to flow easily while mug is an example of insulator
which heat passes slowly or not at all.

Say something about the video. How does heat travel?
► How does heat transfer to solid materials? Fill in the paragraph below to generalize the concept you’ve
learned today. Choose your answer from the box below.
Let’s say that while you are camping , the IPs from San Jose fill a bowl with hot soup for you . A metal
spoon is then submerged in it for five minutes.
Questions:
1. What happened to the exposed end of the spoon after five minutes?
2. What did you notice about the outside surface of the bowl when you touched it?
Why?
3. Suggest ways to reduce the effect of heat on the metal objects so that we can
avoid getting hurt when we touched it.
