What kind of accidents?


Motorcycle accidents.
Pedestrians hit and runs. Car
accidents.

these accidents happens?
Recklessness while others
were lack of knowledge about
the safety precausions.

Everyday, there are several
accidents happen and
recorded. People nowadays
are lack of knowledge about
certain things in life. Say for
example the simple road
safety rules and regulations.
Most of us don’t know what
the symbols that we often see
on the road really stands for.
While others, don’t know
when and where they should
stop, stand, walk and go.

What do you think is the


best possible solution that
one can do in order to avoid
or lessen these accidents?
One must be properly oriented
about the traffic rules and
regulations.

I have learned that our
school has this project in
partnership with the LTO,
the STRUT or Students
Today Road Users
Tomorrow. Do you know
what is STRUT?
This advocates people
especially students to be
properly oriented and be
educated about the different
traffic rules and regulations in
order for them to avoid road
accidents.

Measures in a Beauty salon.

Let us define Control


measures.
Control Measures are actions
and/or activities that are taken
to prevent, eliminate, or
reduce the occurrence of a
hazard that you have
identified.

Control Measures are


classified into four.
What are those?
Electrical Hazard
Chemical Hazard
Slips, Trips, Falls
Fire Safety
Electrical appliances used in
beauty salon can create
serious health and safety risks
and damage to equipment.
What are the possible control
measures that we can do in
order to avoid electrical
hazard?

Electrical Hazard Control


Measures:
1. Always check the
equipment before use. Broken
or damage electrical
equipment should not be used.
Ask qualified electrician to
check all pieces of electrical
equipment in the workplace
annually or as often as
possible.
2. When adjusting or
cleaning equipment, SWITCH
OFF the power and pull out
the plug and NOT by the cord.
Do not touch equipment with
wet hands. Don’t use a wet
cloth to clean sockets.
3. Make sure flexible cords
are fully unwound and kept
clear of work traffic. Do not
run too many pieces of
equipment from one socket.

Chemical Hazard Control
Measures:
1. Use appropriate PPE.
2. Use alternative substances
or processes which are less
hazardous.
3. Good ventilation can get rid
of the fumes and chemical
smell that builds up in a salon.

How about during a slip,


trip or fall accidents? What
are the control measures?
Slip, Trips and Fall Control
Measures:
1. Clean up spills straight
away. Use mats on slippery
floors.
2. Provide ample storage
space, to avoid materials
being placed in
aisles/walkways.

How about control


measures for Fire?

Fire Safety Control Measures:


1. Switch off and unplug all
all electrical appliances before
leaving the workplace.
2. Firefighting equipment
must be available. Keep all
escape routes and fire exits
clear.
3. Make sure that all workers
in the salon are aware of the
action that must takes in ther
event of a fire.

we might encounter in the
workplace before hand.

We are expose to possible
accidents from our day-to-day
activities. If we have proper
knowledge about Control
measures we can surely save
the day.
