Remote Learning

Participate and Assist

To ensure that I can carry out/perform my tasks efficiently and effectively in participating and
assisting my cooperating teacher in establishing routines and procedures, in the classroom or in
remote learning, I must be guided by the following questions:

1. How will I gain student attention in the classroom/remote learning?

2. What are the routines and procedure that I need to establish before, during, and after my
classes whether on face-to-face or remote learning?

3. What verbal and non-verbal communication will I use to signal that students need
help/attention in the classroom/remote learning?

4. How must students get/secure the needed work and other cooperative activities in the
classroom/remote learning?

5. How will students transition to group work and other cooperative activities in the
classroom/remote learning?

6. What procedures must be followed by students who need to attend to personal necessities in
the classroom/online classes?

7. What rules must be set for students who finish task early/and for those who cannot complete
work on time?

8. What procedures must be observed for tardiness/early dismiss?

9. What procedure must be done when submitting homework/performance tasks in the

10. What procedures must be employed in movements into and out of the classroom/remote
learning?

Complete the matrix for the routines that you can employ before, during, and after classes in
the classroom/ remote learning to ensure order and discipline in your classes. List down the
problems which you have encountered while implementing these routines.

Here some routines and procedures that I can employ before, during and after classes in the
classroom/remote learning.

CLASSROOM ROUTINES and PROCEDURES

 Temperature Check
 Starting the class with a prayer
 Singing the National Anthem
 Checking of Attendance
 Announcing some important reminders
 Review of previous lesson/introduction of new lesson
 Stating objectives
 Conducting preliminary activities
 Discussion
 Conduct practice problem for enhancement of students’ knowledge
 Generalization and valuing
 Evaluation
 Assignment/reminders for next meet up.

The following issues arose before, during and after class. Before class students are very
noisy and they misbehave specially while falling in line and checking the body temperature.
Some of them are annoying their classmates which end up into small arguments. They are so
hyper that they are hard to control. During class, there are few of them who keeps talking and
talking, some are going outside and some just stares at you while you were teaching. At first, I
find it difficult to have their full cooperation in class. Specially when it’s my first time to teach on
their math subject. After class, same problems are encountered with their behavior as they
cannot avoid to run around the room, shout or play while waiting for the next subject.

Notice

After doing classroom routines and formulating your procedures, state what you have noticed
by answering the following questions:

o How did you feel after employing your classroom routines and establishing your procedures in
the classroom/remote learning?

It was both enjoyable and tough. The first day of teaching is challenging, I felt a little bit of
nervous specially when the students are just staring at me. I also find it hard to crack some
jokes and have humor just to lighten up the mode inside the class. Even though the first few
minutes are hard, later on I was able to enjoy it and direct my class properly. In my next
classes. I was able already to lay out my full classroom procedures even telling the students
about our existing class rules while our classes are ongoing. I also started to adjust my teaching
strategy depending on which section I am currently teaching. As I finished employing all the
routines which I just also adopt from my resource teacher. That’s the time I realized how fun it
was to teach and become a teacher. The interaction between students and the result of the
discussion where they are able to understand the lesson will really make someone who’s
teaching motivated to teach again. Classroom management might be hard and the behavior of
students are quiet challenging but its really fun to teach and discuss infront.

o How did your students respond to your classroom routines and procedures?

At first, maybe they were shock since their teacher change. But then when they recovered they
showed different responses. Some of them actively participates and obey with the rules given.
They recite, answer question, volunteer to read definitions flash on the TV screen. While some
of them of course as typical students inside the class. There somebody who do not listen and
sleep. Some who’s shy to participate and remain silent and some which encounter difficulty in
mastering the lesson that gave me idea to one-by-one attend to their needs inside the class
while they are solving practice problems in math.

o What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom routines and procedures?

58 | P a g e
Establishing My Own Classroom Routines and Procedures in a Face-to-Face/ Remote Learning
It was a positive feedback, as she watches from the back of the classroom I can see that she
agrees with my procedures. She also told me that my teaching strategies are good and she
gave me advise that I don’t need to be intimidated with my students especially those in science
class because they are just testing me. I think, I had her approval for the routines and
procedures I made because she eventually gave her full trust and let me handle her class for
the next few days and weeks.

Was there a change in the classroom environment/ teaching-learning process after you
have implemented your classroom routines and procedures?

There was definitely a noticeable difference. The students are now more enthusiastic
and engaged. The discussion in class had their full attention. They were both asking questions
and actively responding in a casual way. They also volunteer to answer sample problems and
even ask for more examples they can work with. They also become open with their problem
with the subject matter and do not hesitate to tell if there are part of the lesson which they
cannot understand. They are also comfortable in learning already where they approach me in
front and shows their asnwer and asks for assurance if the process they have followed is
correct.

ANALYZE

1. What factors/conditions prompted you to establish those classroom routines and procedures?
These classroom routines and procedures were created as a result of the session's
learning objectives, students' attainment of competencies, the time allotted for discussion, and
other factors such as problem and behavior of the student observe while fulfilling field study 1

Was there a marked improvement in classroom management after employing your

classroom routines?

Yes, by participating in each session, students develop relationships with their peers. They
respond to the teacher's inquiries more swiftly. You could tell how much they liked each lesson
as the routines took shape. Aside from it they also start to build stronger relationship with one
another as they collaborate and team up to beat the other circle or students who also team up
to answer problems in related to the lesson.

Reflect

What insights have you gained while doing this learning episode?

I've come to realize that creating routines and processes for the classroom is essential for
efficient classroom management in order to meet learning objectives, engage students, and
fully immerse them in the course. If teachers adhere to the proper procedures, they can avoid
having a tough time discussing the subject and make the most of the time they have to
complete the discourse.

OBSERVE

My biggest problems and obstacles when creating my classroom routines were securing the
interest and engagement of the students. Particularly in one class that frequently pushes me
intellectually and tries to intimidate me by asking a ton of questions that have nothing to do with
our subject.

REFLECT

I wish to address these problems and worries by organizing routines, creating pedagogical
strategies, and getting ready to use materials in the classroom.

PLAN

One of the numerous tactics I may take to enhance my classroom procedures is to ask my
students for feedback and to communicate with my resource teacher. By doing this, I will be
able to identify areas in which I am ineffective and what skills I need to develop. In addition, I
also ask some detail to my resource teacher regarding my students current standing and level,
their attitude and etc. which will help me device an effective strategy to implement.

My first experience of actual teaching in a learning environment. The first experience of teaching
without scripted flow, like what we use to do on our demonstration where our audience are our
classmates. The first time, I was able to experience and encounter everything I’ve learn both on my
major subject and professional education subjects.
