COLLEGE OF ARTS AND COMMUNICATION

CAC Interact 2024

Of Battles and Triumphs: Celebrating Life through Musical

29 February 2024, Thursday- 1 March 2024, Friday

Rationale
CAC Interact is an annual college-wide celebration of the College of Arts and Communication. It
boasts more than two decades of history, bringing in notable CAC alumni as guest speakers,
showcasing the artistry of CAC students, faculty, and staff, and enriching the bond of CAC faculty and
students. This year, the CAC community is bringing back CAC Interact for the first time post-COVID19
pandemic. CAC-based student organizations will once again spearhead activities that will showcase
their respective fields and encourage camaraderie among CAC students and faculty.

CAC Interact 2024 draws inspiration from musical films and theaters to deliver the same spectacle
and inspiration that the UEP community expects from the event. This year’s celebration carries the
theme Of Battles and Triumphs: Celebrating Life through Musical, aptly suggested by Dr. Virginia G.
Balanon to celebrate the resilience of CAC students, faculty members, and staff in enduring the
challenges of full online setup of teaching and learning during the COVID19 pandemic.

Guest speaker
CAC Interact 2024 will welcome Atty. Ramon C. Cuyco as guest speaker. Atty. Cuyco is a decorated
public servant and adored colleague, even by young lawyers and former students. He is an alumnus of
the Political Science program of the College of Arts and Communication, University of Eastern
Philippines. He also organized the Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement for Security and Trade
Office (CREST-O) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), where he served as the legal adviser. Before
retiring, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Bureau of Customs.

At present, Atty. Cuyco is one of the commissioners of Commission on Bar Discipline of the Integrated
Bar of the Philippines (IBP), a practicing lawyer, and a consultant for the Bureau of Immigration.
Among his published works is “Agricultural Smuggling and National Security: Towards an Enhanced
Food Safety and National Security Architecture at the Borders”, which he wrote with his wife, Dr.
Ethel T. Cablay-Cuyco.
