ACTIVITY DESIGN
EXPERIENCING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DURING PANDEMIC:
RESPONSE IN SCHOOL IN CAMP SOLIDARITY
I. RATIONALE
Lucena National high School, spearheaded by an ever supportive, dedicated, and action-wise School Head Mr.
Santiago M. Elesio where excellence and commitment among teachers and students takes place. The school will
be dedicating time to activities which involves mandatory health safety protocols. This said activities will
improve opportunities for students to engage in school life amidst the new circumstances and to
provide our students with a sense of normalcy and social connection amidst uncertainty. This is also to address
the stress and isolation of the crisis in our senior high school students and therefore we will initiate more
opportunities to make our students “socialize with fellow students” amidst this pandemic because they need
peer-to-peer connection that are also able to meet the local COVID-19 protocols. In connection to this we will
conduct a program on April 19, 2021 – April 23, 2021 entitled Experiencing Community Engagement
during Pandemic: Response in School in Camp Solidarity.
Furthermore, The students will be assigned in various barangays and a school based camping activity will also
be held which lend students a chance to develop a sense of leadership as the activity could involve growth with
leveled challenges for advancement within it. The development and growth of student confidence is another
benefit of this said program. The social-emotional connections through interactions with peers, teachers and the
community mold and enhance a student’s personality, problem-solving abilities, personal opinions, and
advocacy, decision-making skills. Participating in volunteer, service learning, community-based research
or other community engagement activities can expose students to real world challenges that affect our
diverse community. These hands-on experiences can teach the students how to think critically about the wide
impacts of these issues while working alongside and learning from community and industry experts.
Working with community members, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, will help students build
resumes, become more familiar with industries or areas of personal interest, and become better prepared
with the interpersonal, technical, and professional skills to achieve success in the modern day workforce,
(http://www.ccsu.edu). The school, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning,
students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in that a focus on increasing community
involvement programs and opportunities should be a consistent goal for our school.
