ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

ON IMPLEMENTATION OF CATCH-UP FRIDAYS
Friday- January 12, 2024

Pili Elementary School launched the Implementation of Catch – Up Fridays As

per DepEd Memorandum 001,s. 2024, the Department’s current initiatives to
provide opportunities to enhance learners’ academic performance, particularly the
low proficiency levels in reading based on national and international large-
scale assessments. These assessment results necessitate prompt attention to
address learning gaps and strengthen the reading proficiency of every learner.

All Fridays throughout the school year shall be designated as Catch-up

Fridays, with a focus on operationalizing the National Reading Program to enhance
learners’ knowledge and skills in the appreciation of reading, values, health and
peace education.

First a short orientation to the learners about the purpose of the activity was
conducted then different reading innovations were followed such as DEAR- Drop
Everything and Read, Pair/Peer Reading, Tutorials and Read a Thon.

Learners are expected to articulate their thoughts through various forms of

writing such as stories, journals, personal essays and other forms of creative
expressions that reflect their unique learning experiences.

Hopefully this will manifest the progress of the learners particularly in reading
and writing and to cope up to the learning losses brought by the Covid 19
pandemic.
