2. PURPOSE

2.1 The Purpose of this document is to explain how the measurement of the Box Thread Primary
Seal is perform by use of a plug gage, for connections 14.0” OD and a MRP gage for
connections > 14.0” OD for TenarisHydril Wedge Box Threads.

3.1.2 Facilities licensed to thread TenarisHydril connections.

5.1 Definitions and Abbreviations are defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document
TSH-GP-00-0001.

6.1 Responsibilities are defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document

7. PERSONNEL QUALIFICATION

7.1 Personnel qualification is defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document
TSH-GP-00-0003.

8. PROCEDURES

8.1 Inspection

8.1.1 Seal Ring Gage

8.1.1.1 See TSH-GP-00.0007, Seal Gage Calibration check if a check standard is


provided with the gage set provided.

8.1.1.2 A TenarisHydril seal plug gage is used to establish the location of the seal
diameter relative to the basic thread width, datum –C—box connection. Screw the
seal gage into the box connection until it makes up securely with the load flank of
the threads and the seal surface. The standard line on the box OD should fall
within the standard and tolerance lines etched on the OD of the seal gage. There
is a gross check to prevent the gage from being a full revolution out of tolerenace.
Gross error standard requirements are etched on the OD of the gage..

8.1.1.3 Bluing requirements are specified on the product drawing, Blue in accordance with
TSH-IP-00.0074

8.1.1.4 Drawing Example: Primary Seal Ring Gage

8.1.2 MRP Gage for connection > 14.0” OD

8.1.2.1 The MRP Seal gage shall replace the Primary seal gage as stated above. All
other requirements shall apply except Primary Seal Bluing in accordance with
TSH–IP-00.0074 is not required and Primary seal width measurement is not
required.

8.4 Acceptance / Rejection criteria

The result of this inspection is acceptable if the measured values are within the values indicated
on the inspection report and/or within the limits indicated on the OD of the Gauge.

8.5 Records
The result of these inspections shall be recorded on the IR.
